Interesting Comparison

Yesterday, Joe Biden released a lengthy list of Republicans supporting him, including John Kasich and Colin Powell. Last night, the Republicans came up with their own list of Democrats supporting Trump. It consisted of one name: Vernon Jones. That might seem like a big coup for Trump getting a black Democratic state representative to speak for him. But for those who know Jones, like most people, he is by now a joke.

Jones had a good political career at one time, including being DeKalb County CEO (essentially the mayor of the unincorporated areas of Georgia's second most populous county). He lost that job following widespread allegations of corruption. Since then, he has alienated almost everyone in DeKalb County politics, Republican and Democrat, and is leaving office rather than face a primary he was almost certain to lose.

Actually, by him speaking at the Republican convention, he may do Democrats some good. I doubt any Democrats will be inclined to vote for Trump on his say-so, and the decision to pick him has rubbed a lot of Georgia Republicans the wrong way who wonder why Trump didn't select any other Georgia speakers. (Football star Herschel Walker also spoke yesterday, but no other Georgia politicians are in the lineup.)
