This is a surprise, even given recent events.

Where are they ever going to find somebody to immediately take over as the head of a fake university where stupid people incur a lifetime of debt to learn how to be selfish greedy sociopaths while claiming they're doing God's work? Somebody experienced in that role won't be available to fill that vacancy until, say, January 20.

What's this world coming to when you can't trust a blackmailing pool boy who you pay to have sex with your wife to keep his mouth shut?

I wonder if Falwell will be replaced as a speaker at the RNC.

Falwell probably wouldn't have spoken at the RNC regardless. He prefers to watch.

I do have one nit to pick with the media on this story: Since when did we start calling pool boys "business partners" and "business associates"? This is political correctness gone mad!

Reading the local papers (and, admittedly, with no other insight on the situation other than seeing the same thing play out on the athletic field over the years), I suspect the issue at hand isn't so much "when" Junior leaves the job, but "how much" it will take to make him leave.

As of 2:59 pm he is out--acknowledged as such to the AP.

Liberty alumni and Virginia pastor Colby Garman tweeted on Monday night that the events which brought Falwell down “are not the public fall of a Christian leader into sin.”

“They are the unmasking of a long-standing hypocrisy that has fed off the resources and goodwill of a Christian institution while despising the truths it was established to uphold,” Garman wrote.

As I said before, the issue of Junior's leaving wasn't "when' but "how much."

Now we know the "how much" - $10.5 million ($2.5 million for the equivalent of two years' salary, $8 million for retirement).

But if a student at Liberty had done this, they would have been expelled for violating the school's strict codes of conduct.

While Jerry Falwell told the Post he was stepping down partly out of boredom with the job, he told The Associated Press on Tuesday "the only reason I resigned" is "because I don't want something my wife did to harm the school I've spent my whole life building."

Still using the Adam defense. Sadly, he probably legitimately thinks he is faultless in this.

The pool boy is supposed to have an interview tomorrow morning on Good Morning America.
