For those who may still be on the fence about their choice (and I have a feeling there aren't very many of them out there), I think this format favors Biden because he can give a quieter, more empathetic speech, which is his strength (and is reminiscent of FDR's fireside chats). He put that to good use when he had a zoom chat with the mayor Chicago, president of the NAACP, and others about race relations. I can see that being very effective with him talking with a handful of everyday people in that manner.
But the single best and most touching moment of the night was from a woman in Arizona whose father died of COVID-19 after attending a karaoke party in May at a local bar because he believed the worst had passed:
