My first earthquake

The building shook for 3-5 seconds this morning, and we tried to figure out what one of the other residents could have done to cause it. The closest we'd experienced was last summer when the homeowners replaced the flat roof, and the roofers hammered like the hounds of hell for two days to get the old roof off.

I told roomie maybe this was an earthquake, and we both went back to bed.

Turns out, that was right. 5.1, centered near the NC-Va border.

If you could go back to sleep after an earthquake, then all's well that ends well. I am happy for that.

My first thought would've been that the Incredible Hulk landed in the area.

I watch too many superhero movies.

I felt it more than 200 miles away in eastern NC and thought "What the hell was that?" until my wife saw it on her news feed on her hone.

I'm glad you're OK.

But the real question is, did you have "earthquake" on your 2020 bingo card?

We felt it here in Atlanta, but in all honesty, I thought that it was one of our cats having a rare burst of energy and running around pulling on some of the cables under my office desk. It was only when my daughter came in and asked if I felt it that I realized it was something more widespread.

I knew this would happen! I was only 30 years too early!
