This Week on Jeopardy

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Tue Jul 21, 2020 6:05 pm

They are showing special episodes from the past. Yesterday, they had Alex Trebek's first episode. Today's episode was the second on the show and, let's just say, wagering strategies were rather different then.

Also, Alex did a whole lot more explaining of the gameplay in those early episodes. And in the first season (as on the Art Fleming version of the show), contestants could ring in as soon as a clue was revealed. That often led to people ringing in because they either thought they knew the category or were desperate to catch up. That would be followed by the contestant standing there unable to think of anything. That rule was changed to the current ring in after Alex finishes reading before the beginning of Season 2.

under those rules, I would've been ringing in on all the $100 and $200 clues in round 1; all the $200 clues in round 2, and depending on the category, the $400 clues in round 2.

If the DDs are there, even better; without those, that would be $4200 max gain.
