Cute Kiddo Thing

#1 Post by Bixby17 » Tue May 13, 2008 7:42 am

The kids have a talent show before school for this week in May.

Jackson has signed up every year and never makes the lottery.

Jessica wanted to sign up to do it, even though there aren't any Pre-Kers who do this. She got in her first time.

She persuaded her friend Sela to do it too. Sela is a girl in her class who is very shy but it was good for them to do this together.

They wanted to dance ballet. Figuring out choreography for Pre-Kers is a little hard. We decided on the following:

Nutcracker suite.

Sela has arms out in the middle of the stage, bouncing to the music. Jessica comes from off stage, dances, and then tags Sela. Sela dances while Jessica freezes in place and bounces to the music. It's sort of a tag dance. At the end of the song they dance together.

They had matching outfits and looked adorable.

Well, it turned out hilarious. Jessica went behind the curtain to start, but she couldn't find her way out until the music teacher saved her. Much laughing. But Jessica pretended like nothing happened and continued with the performance. I thought they did a wonderful job. Sela's mom was afraid that Sela would get frightened, but she did just what they practiced.

The bummer part is that I was videotaping this, but goofed up the videoing right after the stuck behind the curtain part. :( I'm hoping a friend of mine videoed it, but I don't think so.

It was hilarious and cute. I was very proud of them both.

Good for them, especially Jessica in acting as if nothing was wrong - and I hope there is a video that you can post to YouTube so we can see it.

That's my girl! I vividly remember Jessica dancing in a hotel lobby several years ago, when she must have been about (or not quite) two. I will cross my fingers that a video of the talent show turns up.

Bravo to Jessica and Sela.

Brava! Brava!

And good for Jessica for recruiting Sela for the performance. :)

Is Jackson getting upset that he never wins the lottery?

Jackson we feel your pain.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I would probably not put something like this on YouTube. Maybe a private video sharing site.

Jessica has all the luck in the world. Jackson has zero luck. Yes, he is getting a little sore about it.

Summer reading program. Jackson has never won any raffle prizes since being at the school.

First year Jessica does the program, she ends up winning 3 big prizes.

He was really nice to Jessica this morning telling her how pretty she looked and how he was going to clap the loudest.

Even so, he is almost in a state of perpetual embarrassment by her. She is very bubbly and cute, and sort of not self aware about that. Jackson gets mad about her being too adorable.

Marley reminded me that I do know the difference between bravo, brava and bravi, but I don't think I've ever used the latter words in a moment of enthusiasm.

I don't think I've ever heard people shouting "bravi". Plural, huh?

Yes -- but to my ear, it sounds like people are shouting in Italian "Underwear, underwear!" Now, that might be appropriate if T-Bone were performing in his Underoos, but otherwise....
