Steve Priest, the bassist and co-founder of glam rock band Sweet, has died at the age of 72.
He was known for his playful humour and outrageous costumes when Sweet played hits like Blockbuster and Little Willy on Top of the Pops in the 1970s.
Priest also sang the memorable lines "there's a girl in the corner that no-one ignores, 'cos she thinks she's the passionate one," in Ballroom Blitz.
His death was confirmed by the band, who shared a statement from his family.

Ballroom Blitz is the only song of theirs I've heard, probably in a strip club.

I can't imagine you got to be your age without hearing Little Willy a time or two.

It's playing right now. I'd never heard it before.

Little Willy, Fox On The Run and Love Is Like Oxygen were also Top Ten hits in the U.S., while Action, their other Top 40 entry, peaked at 20. In their U.K. homeland, and numerous other countries, they had MANY more hits.

Steve?
Drummer Mick can't answer either. And lead singer Brian isn't even around anymore to inquire about their readiness. Only guitarist Andy Scott is still blitzing the ballrooms.
