Hannibal Burress

Hannibal is playing for Melvina Masterminds in Chicago, IL, a charity that provides instruction for low income children in coding, music, and other subjects. His +1 is Buzzy Cohen, who won the J! TOC. Hannibal found Buzzy by doing a "deep dive on trivia" on YouTube.

$300: In the opening sequence of the classic TV series "Star Trek," space is described as "the final" what?
A - mission
B - frontier
C - adventure
D - search

Hannibal shouts out "C, frontier" before the answers are revealed, then makes "B" his final answer.
Spoiler
Answer: B (frontier)
$500: Fittingly, the official state sport of Texas and Wyoming is what?
A - water polo
B - bowling
C - rodeo
D - tennis
Spoiler
Answer: C (rodeo)
$1000: With over 2,000 locations in the U.S., Supercuts is a well-known chain of what?
A - karaoke bars
B - tattoo parlors
C - Chinese restaurants
D - hair salons

Hannibal discourses on franchises before providing his final answer.
Spoiler
Answer: D (hair salons)
$2,000: At birth, which of these animals falls about six feet head-first to the ground?
A - rhinoceros
B - tiger
C - giraffe
D - hippopotamus

Hannibal says he learned a lot of facts from rap music. He quotes a line from a song, "higher than a giraffe's ***". He doesn't remember who the artist was.
Spoiler
Answer: C (giraffe)
$4,000: Based on their ages, two friends celebrating their quinceañera and bar mitzvah together would have how many birthday candles at their party?
A - 21
B - 28
C - 30
D - 34

Hannibal says he's trying to envision how this party would go. He knows that
Spoiler
quinceañera is 15, and believes that bar mitzvah is 13.
Jimmy jokes that Hannibal isn't Jewish; Buzzy speaks up and says he is, and gives the ages for both celebrations.
Spoiler
Answer: B (28)

$8,000: Which of the following is not one of the four elements of cooking as listed in the title of Samin Nosrat's best-selling book?
A - salt
B - pepper
C - heat
D - acid

Hannibal doesn't know who the author is. He asks Buzzy for his thoughts. Buzzy says he thinks the title refers to what is needed in each dish, and pepper isn't one of them. Hannibal says this is the author's philosophy. He thinks the author is a man but Buzzy corrects him.
Spoiler
Answer: B (pepper)
$16,000: What singer remained "HUMBLE." after becoming the first rapper to win a Pulitzer Prize?
A - Meek Mill
B - Post Malone
C - Chance the Rapper
D - Kendrick Lamar

Hannibal gives his answer, makes it final. Jimmy asks if he wanted to consult with Buzzy, who says "look at me" jokingly. Hannibal is a big rap fan and heard the song played repeatedly during the NBA finals.
Spoiler
Answer: D (Kendrick Lamar)
$32,000: Proper nouns aren't allowed in Scrabble, yet all but which of these words is playable according to the game's official dictionary?
A - Chad
B - China
C - Greece
D - Panama

Hannibal says his Scrabble knowledge is nil. Buzzy isn't a Scrabble guy but says they can think through this. He mentions the hanging chads of the 2000 presidential election; Hannibal doesn't know about this. China could refer to plates, and Panama could refer to a hat. He doesn't know of anything that would be "a greece". Buzzy thinks it's "C". Hannibal says that's solid logic so he makes that his final answer.
Spoiler
Answer: C (Greece)
Hannibal has reached the point where can trade out a lifeline, and he decides that Jimmy "has a lot going on" as host, and he doesn't want to burden Jimmy further, so he swaps his "Ask the Host" lifeline to use Buzzy for one more question.

$64,000: The 2019 action movie "John Wick: Chapter 3" is subtitled "Parabellum," a Latin phrase that means what in English?
A - death before defeat
B - love conquers all
C - prepare for war
D - fortune favors the bold

Hannibal can't recall if he saw "2" or "3" and asks Jimmy which one Common was in. Jimmy replies, "I can't answer. You didn't pick me." He knows what the movies are about and the answer isn't "love conquers all". Hannibal decides to use his "Phone a Friend" lifeline to call his dad, John. He says he will leave out the "John Wick" part because it's unnecessary.
Spoiler
"Phone a Friend results": Hannibal asks his dad what "parabellum" means, then reads the four choices. John asks Hannibal to repeat them. John doesn't know and runs out of time before he can say what he thought.
Hannibal thinks the second movie ended with John Wick in the park seeing all the people coming at him, which set the stage for the third movie. He feels strongly that it's "prepare for war", but he doesn't want to be wrong. On the other hand he doesn't want to use a lifeline and it turns out it was what he thinks it was. He decides to go back to Buzzy.
Spoiler
"Ask the Host" results: Buzzy says that the Latin comes with the glasses. He then says that "antebellum" means "before the war". so "bellum" must be war, to which Hannibal shouts in frustration.
Hannibal goes with Buzzy's recommendation.
Spoiler
Answer: C (prepare for war)

A - calamity
B - debacle
C - shambles
D - fiasco

Hannibal wonders if the person who named the bottle knew that he would one day agonize over the question. He decides to use his last lifeline.
Spoiler
"50:50 results": B & D
Hannibal is glad of the results. He also notes that "Lupe Fiasco" is a favorite rapper of his, from Chicago. He would probably know this. Hannibal says that "debacle feels more like disappointment, while fiasco is more like chaos." He makes "B" his final answer.
Spoiler
Answer: D (fiasco)

If this had been a regular contestant episode, would TPTB offer up a $125K question like this where only one answer sounded like an obviously Italian word?

And would the contestant make his choice without even once noticing that fact?
