I have to share this..
Here's the background...I have gotten to know musician/producer/all-around good guy Michael Carpenter over the last few years through Facebook and e-mails. You've seen him pop up frequently on my year-end favorites lists, if you've read them, quite often. On Sunday I sent him a recording I had made years ago, circa 1988, long after my days singing in a band, when I was working in radio. One night, after my on air shift and commercial making were through, I went into the production studio and started playing around with a couple of tape machines, just seeing what I could come up with. One of the more successful results was Buddy Holly's "Rave On". I always thought it came out pretty well. Anyway, I ran across the tape a couple of months ago and converted the stuff on it to mp3s. I shared "Rave On" with MC on Sunday just to show that at one time I had a passable voice. I was totally shocked when I found an e-mail waiting for me yesterday with the item below. Incredible. All of the instruments are him, all the voices are me. Had to share with you folks 'cuz I am so jazzed by this. Why, I almost sound like a pro!
EDIT: OK let's try this again. I uploaded it to Soundcloud.

I'll push my luck with this and post this as well. Another "gem" that was unearthed recently by our old bass player. It's from a gig we played about a month and a half into our existence with the final lineup, a folk/rock festival at the college I had recently graduated from. From September of 1979. It's a VERY crude recording, but it's enough to demonstrate what a tight little band I was lucky enough to front for a few years...

Crap. I don't know how to fix this so that you can just click on the link and be whisked away to the audio. It WILL do it if you copy and paste in a new window. If any bored moderators or bb's who are not idiots like me know how to fix this, please advise..
FIXED!

TB, it appears that these are coming straight from the D drive on your machine which is why only you can access them. You'll have to place them somewhere on the internet, like maybe Facebook or a website, so we can all access them. Others with more experience in this area will be along to assist you, I'm sure.

Magnificent, T-Bone!
Lizbit listened, too, and sent it to Annie via some complicated method that's like eyelid messaging, but involving sound. (I don't understand how it works, either.) Anyway, she said that Annie said, "I always knew he was my favorite singer. That's why I wanted him in my opera."
Then Lizbit asked me to find some way to play it in my car. "I would like to hear that sometimes instead of the Beatles," she said. From her, that's high praise, indeed.

That sounds pretty damned good! Almost good enough to make up for the crushing of another Bored voice in my head going by the wayside now that I've heard the real deal....
Tell the Groupies they better put on their Depends®.... they may wet themselves listening to that classic TBone.
