Serial Killers - Triple Timeline
Serial killers have been around for most of man's recorded history, unfortunately. Some of the most famous serial killers began their killing sprees in 20th century, many in the last fifty years. Often, these killing sprees lasted for decades. For purposes of this timeline, however, I am most interested in the year they were caught. I had to cut some from the list because the 70s were getting too crowded (sorry Gacy).

1985 - Richard Ramirez - The Night Stalker (This is the one date I am absolutely certain about. We used to get a big group together to go to Bass Lake every Labor Day weekend. In 1985, Richard Ramirez was in the news and on the loose, with a range from San Francisco to south Orange County. Friday night was really creepy, as most of us were camping. IIRC, the news broke that he had been apprehended (and beaten pretty well). The next year, 1986, a DC-9 crashed into a neighborhood in Cerritos. The next year, 1987, there were crazy wildfires all over the state. That broke the streak of big news stories over that weekend for 10 years, until 1997, when we found out that Princess Diana had died.
