RIP Javier Pérez de Cuéllar

A two-term secretary general of the United Nations during the 1980s and ’90s, died on Wednesday at 100. He helped broker several peace agreements, including the end of a 10-year war between Iran and Iraq, and the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan.
