New England quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive and is out of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game will probably be postponed at least temporarily.

Former FSU head football coach Bobby Bowden, 90, has tested positive for the coronavirus. He was recently in the hospital for treatment of a leg infection.

#Patriots star CB Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for the coronavirus and the team isn't expected to practice today, per sources.
Now the team is without their top offensive and defensive players. No word as to which of the two planes he was on (the Pats took two separate flights to KC, those w/close contact with Cam Newton and everyone else).
Ruby Tuesday has now filed for Chapter 11. Before the pandemic, they would occasionally send me a one-day-only twofer email during the middle of the week, but during the spring, they sent us those emails almost every day. Even now, they are sending some sort of special offer almost every day. They say that they will still remain open during Chapter 11 (some of their locations closed earlier this year, but the Atlanta ones have stayed open until now).

Broncos vs. Patriots game moved to next Sunday after new positive coronavirus test
The Broncos-Patriots game that had been rescheduled to Monday is now being moved to next Sunday after the Patriots had one new positive test for the coronavirus Sunday morning, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Patriots were to be on bye in Week 6, while the Broncos were supposed to play Miami. The Dolphins-Broncos game is being rescheduled.
Alabama football coach Nick Saban and the athletic director test positive for COVID 19.
Of course, this is days before the latest "game of the century" where Bama plays Georgia.
BTW, NCAA rules prevent remote coaching. No electronic communication into the stadium from 90 minutes before the game (when the game officials take over) until the game is finalized. So, Coach Saban, the ultimate micromanager, is going to have to "let it go" for this weekend, and probably next week's game against Tennessee also.
The crazy thing is that, as it now stands, Bama can lose a game this season (as long as it's not to Auburn), and still win the SEC West. Four of the seven teams already have two losses, and Bama has the tie-breaker edge over one-loss Texas A&M. Auburn is the only other team with one loss.

8% of the adult population has asthma
15% of the adult population has chronic kidney disease.
Almost half the adult population has some form of cardiovascular disease.
Yes, there's a good bit of overlap among these categories, but what you're really saying is that for the minority of the population that doesn't have some potentially serious pre-existing medical condition, the death toll is small. That's not very consoling to the rest of us.
You're looking at a disease that's going to cause a 10% rise in the overall death rate (from all causes) in the United States for the year 2020, despite not being a factor for the first two months of the year. Add the that the number of others, like krox's daughter, who will suffer the aftereffects of the coronavirus for the rest of their lives, and it's certainly not something to ridicule.

I shoulda known not to wander into this thread, Despite the "non-political" disclaimer in the title, I managed to find something to piss me off. I will avoid any outright political musings in order to try and keep within the boundaries established in the thread title.
Glad to see you can ridicule my fear of this virus. So happy to see you don't think it will have an impact on you personally, other than of course the inconvenience of being expected to take measures to protect others.
I have muscular dystrophy. As such, my disease has progressed to the point where my lung capacity has decreased. Don't get me wrong, I've got a long way to go, under normal circumstances before I take my leave of Planet Earth, but if I catch this thing....game over. So every time I see someone piss and moan about having to take precautions to protect others, or downplay the seriousness of the virus because they don't feel personally threatened by it, my blood pressure rises to Mount Everest levels.
Panicked? I'm sure as hell scared shitless about venturing out in public, even though my area has a pretty low number of positive tests.
