My daughter is a Thespian

As of today, Maddie is a Thespian. She spent the morning breaking down the stage after a weeklong performance of
The Diviners. She had been ushering, selling concessions and tickets all week to get her final hours of technical work. (It was about four hours of work a night, so she has been exhausted.)
To become a Thespian at her school, students need to put in about 150 hours acting and doing technical stuff in the theater. Since there are so many girls in the drama department, becoming a Thespian as a Freshman is a huge deal and I wasn't sure that she would be able to get enough acting time to accomplish her goal, especially with her busy Quiz Bowl and Mock Trial schedules.
So how has this changed her life? Well this evening, I asked her to help me tidy up the downstairs. She came downstairs, made a dramatic entrance and started singing "The Happy Working Song" from
Enchanted. She did this for about five minutes and then tells me that it's my fault that the vermin won't help her clean. She says that the windows are all closed so the squirrels, cockroaches and rats from the neighborhood can't come in and tidy up the house.
If you haven't seen
Enchanted, here is the song on YouTube.

It's funny.
She's been saying all year, "I'm trying to become a Thespian." Then she says, "Don't judge me."

Congrats to Maddie! I was a Thespian in high school, too, and my time in the theatre provided some of my best teenage memories.

Congarts to Maddie.
My dad called my sister Sarah when she became a thespian.
None of us got it. He told me to look it up. My mom told me the Bernhardt part. I looked it up. Michelle then kept saying "I am not French."

Congratulations, Maddie!
Even if this does make her a left coast WE/WE.

She left out the pigeons.
Watched BD's "Enchanted" DVD for the first time this weekend. They must have had a lot of fun doing it. Amazing that there's only a single writer's credit.

If I'm not mistaken, you still are. I think membership is lifetime.
I still have my International Thespian Society Membership Card. It resides in a strongbox with my Radio Operator's license and other treasures of the past.
I had great times in high school theatre.
Yay for Maddie! She will have tremendous fun!!

All rightie, then. Does that make me a WE, or just a WannabE?

As far as I'm concerned, YOU can be anything you wannabe.
