Lyrically Speaking - 1/20/20

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Jan 20, 2020 8:20 am

One of the hardest things about coming up with games for the LS anymore is that after 12 seasons and over 400 individual games... I've already used (and reused) most of the possible themes that there are enough songs for. So as I beat my head against the wall trying to come up with a known-theme game to lead off with, my thoughts turned to the weather. It's cold as hell outside right now... and since the LSWE is run during the winter, I've probably done cold themes to death....

So instead, let's think ahead to summer! Yeah, I'll be complaining the first day it hits 90 with a heat index near the boiling point... but warm thoughts on a frigid day seem pretty nice. So I'm making summer things the theme of 2020's leadoff LSWE game! Be sure to apply your tanning butter for protection before playing today's game....

Remember, today's game will be open until Wednesday morning!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Do you remember back in old LA (Oh, oh, oh)
When everybody drove a Chevrolet (Oh, oh, oh)

2. I'd like to make myself believe
That planet earth turns slowly

3. Whenever he calls my name
Soft, low, sweet, and plain
Right then, right there, I feel that burning flame

4. The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs to show
He's lickin' his lips
He's ready to win

5. You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

6. Can't seem to get my mind off of you
Back here at home there's nothin' to do

7. Here is the dome
Back with the bass
The jam is live in effect
And I don't waste time
Off the mic with a dope rhyme
Jump to the rhythm
Jump, jump to the rhythm, jump

8. I spied a little thing
And I followed her all night
In her funky fine Levis
And her sweater's kinda tight

9. There's an old man there from the Old World
To him, it's all the same
Calls all his customers by name

10. See now all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Hold on a second baby
I got good lemonade, ah, dixie cups
All flavors and push ups too

11. She was afraid to come out in the open
And so a blanket around her she wore

12. Well, beat the drum
And hold the phone
The sun came out today

Yay! Lyrically Speaking is back!

I apologize for not taking part in Frank's last music Tangredi game. I was busy at that time. BTW, I love the games here on this forum. They're a lot better than the crappy games they've got over at Net Game Central:

http://netgamecentral.proboards.com

Seriously, don't be a part of that forum. You'll end up with a negative IQ. I may be kidding there...or not.

1. Do you remember back in old LA (Oh, oh, oh)
When everybody drove a Chevrolet (Oh, oh, oh)
Beach Baby - First Class (I really miss this song being a nightly Mecca earworm, and singing "breach baby" over the chorus...)

2. I'd like to make myself believe
That planet earth turns slowly
Fireflies - Owl City (Speaking of Mecca earworms, I guess they've played this one so much over the past seven years that I thought people might know it. Weird Al did use it in a Polka medley...)

3. Whenever he calls my name
Soft, low, sweet, and plain
Right then, right there, I feel that burning flame
Heat Wave - Martha & The Vandellas or Linda Ronstadt (Love the latter's cover of this...)

4. The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs to show
He's lickin' his lips
He's ready to win
Rock You Like A Hurricane - Scorpions

5. You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Firework - Katy Perry (This song blows...)

6. Can't seem to get my mind off of you
Back here at home there's nothin' to do
Vacation - Go Go's

7. Here is the dome
Back with the bass
The jam is live in effect
And I don't waste time
Off the mic with a dope rhyme
Jump to the rhythm
Jump, jump to the rhythm, jump
Gonna Make U Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) - C + C Music Factory (Probably the first time I've ever used this song in LSWE without quoting the squirrel lyrics)

8. I spied a little thing
And I followed her all night
In her funky fine Levis
And her sweater's kinda tight
Cheap Sunglasses - ZZ Top

9. There's an old man there from the Old World
To him, it's all the same
Calls all his customers by name
Sunset Grill - Don Henley

10. See now all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Hold on a second baby
I got good lemonade, ah, dixie cups
All flavors and push ups too
Ice Cream Man - Van Halen

11. She was afraid to come out in the open
And so a blanket around her she wore
Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - Brian Hyland

12. Well, beat the drum
And hold the phone
The sun came out today
Centerfield - John Fogarty (Not a single Astros joke for this one... well done)
