Proud as a Peacock

NBC unveiled its new Peacock streaming service, which will be available for most people in July (Xfinity X1 and Flex customers will get in in April). There will be two versions available, a free service and a premium service ($5 a month with ads, $10 a month without; Comcast customers get the ad version of the premium service for free). The ads will be limited to five minutes an hour and will rotate so you won't see the same ad six times in the same program. They haven't revealed devices that will carry the service, but I'm sure the major ones like Roku and Firestick will have it.
Both services will have lots of Universal movies (Jurassic Park; ET; Jaws; Fast & Furious) and "classic" NBC/Universal shows (30 Rock; Law and Order; Murder She Wrote; Saturday Night Live), live breaking news events from NBC News reporters, and next day streaming of episodes of new NBC series. All 2020 and beyond Universal theatrical releases will stream exclusively on Peacock. The premium service will have next day streaming of all returning series, live sporting events like English Premier League soccer and some Olympic events, early access to late night programming (Jimmy Fallon will be available at 8:00 eastern). There will also be new series on Peacock Premium, including reboots of Battlestar Galactica and Punky Brewster and a Kevin Hart interview show (some episodes of these originals will be available on the free service as an enticement to upgrade).
Due to existing deals, some series will be shared with other platforms for now or will not be available on Peacock until next year (The Office). Eventually NBC hopes to get all its properties under its umbrella.
