He was a guest mentor last season on Idol, along with Lulu, who still has awesome pipes. He worked with the guys on supposedly British Invasion songs, and she worked with the ladies. The ladies got the far better end of that stick. I hated "To Sir with Love" about the fifth time I heard it, but Lulu's 90s album rocks. Peter Noone, not so much. I bet he is fun at a party, though.

I saw Peter Noone at a casino here after a show he did there a couple years ago. My mom had to point him out to me. I was about as overwhelmed as the day "Marky Mark" Wahlberg got off of a ride at Six Flags back in the early 90's just ahead of me & my sisters in line. We didn't get the boat he had rode in though. Darn the luck.....

I believe that is Gary Lewis, of Gary Lewis and the Playboys (and Jerry's son). I'll check back later to see if my hunch is correct.
I saw Peter Noone last year (had a brief chat with him, too). He has aged pretty well. He's giving a free concert around here next month. I will probably go to it, as I rather enjoyed his segment of the oldies show last year. I still have a fond place in my heart for all of the Herman's Hermits songs of my childhood, and Noone puts on a very entertaining show...the man is hilarious.

I knew the boneman would recognize him. I do recommend the Noone concert. He was indeed fun and did a dead-on impersonation of Johnny Cash doing Folsom Prison Blues. He also does some Davy/Tom Jones. He does some other British invasion songs like Ferry Cross the Mersey, For Your Love and Glad All Over.
Gary Lewis and his group also had a lot of fun and he was equally as entertaining even without a singalong song like Henry the VIII.
They both played at a 50th birthday party and there were maybe about 70 people at the dinner/concert. There was much dancing and singing. The 50 year old dad's teen/pre-teen kids even knew the lyrics.

My kids really like Herman's Hermits. The only song that I really know from Gary Lewis and the Playboys is "This Diamond Ring"

I happen to have three of their songs on my MP3 player, none of which are "This Diamond Ring". The ones I have are "Everybody Loves a Clown", "Count on Me" and "Just My Style".

"She's Just my Style" and "Count Me In" are great oldies. I was never bowled over by "This Diamond Ring"..as Randy Jackson might say, "I found it just a'ight". Other GL & PB's hits were "Sure Gonna Miss Her", "Save Your Heart For Me" (my favorite by him), "Green Grass", "My Heart's Symphony", a remake of "Sealed With a Kiss",and a few other minor chart entries, two of which, "Jill" and "Girls in Love", are also ones I really like.
When I was a kid, I got a 45 with "This Diamond Ring" and "Little Miss Go-Go' on one side, and a song called "Doin' the Flake" on the other side, just by sending in 9,746,422 boxtops from Kellogg's Corn Flakes (plus shipping and handling, I'm sure). I still have that 45. Wonder how much it's worth? Probably not too much, as it's not exactly in mint condition. "Doin' the Flake" is actually on a greatest hits cd I have, but I wonder how many people have the 45

Noone other.
It is interesting to note that Leon Russell was the arranger and I think cowrote some of the group's hits.
