Binge watched season 3. I want season 4 now.

It was nominated for a Golden Globe for best comedy TV series and Rachel Brosnahan was nominated for best actress in a TV musical or comedy.

Problem with binge watching in three days, mixed with football, is that some stuff blurs. May rewatch segments.

I saw the episode where she flashed her tits on stage. Brought a smile to ol' Billy Bored's face.

It's a damn shame she's kept her top on for the rest of the shows. Cancel my order.

Mrs. SSS and I watched the first episode of Season 3 last night and I was both impressed and disappointed. Not in the show, which was excellent as were the first two seasons. But in the period accuracy.

On the plus side, the episode appears to take place in the Christmas season of 1959. Mrs. Maisel does a USO show and they sing White Christmas as the closing number. During the show, there is a big American flag in the background, and it has a historically accurate 49 stars arranged in seven rows of seven stars. (I happen to be an expert on the American flag.) That is the flag that was in use at that time, after Alaska was admitted to the Union in 1959 but before Hawaii in 1960. She also has a backstage talk with Mary Ann Mobley, who was Miss America in 1959 and talked about getting into acting (Mobley started her acting career in early 1960.)

On the minus side, the episode features a nightclub routine from Lenny Bruce, who appears occasionally on the show. During the routine, Bruce talks about how stag films are illegal but movies like Psycho are widely released. The only problem is that Psycho premiered in June 1960 and didn't go into wider release until the fall. The Psycho routine is a famous Bruce routine which he first performed at Carnegie Hall in 1961 in what many consider his greatest performance. In fact, all of Bruce's obscenity arrests occurred after that performance (he gets arrested on the episode and he was arrested on earlier episodes of the show). On the last episode of Season 2, they did include Bruce's appearance on the Steve Allen TV show, which actually did take place in 1959.

I know that the show has played around with Bruce's career for dramatic reasons, but for a show that takes care to pull out a 49-star flag, they could have worked out some way to be more accurate.

Sorry to be picky, but Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959. The 50th star was added on July 4, 1960. Since you really are an expert on this subject, I thought you'd want to know. BTW, my last question was about statehood dates.

Sorry to be picky, but Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959. The 50th star was added on July 4, 1960. Since you really are an expert on this subject, I thought you'd want to know. BTW, my last question was about statehood dates.

How many stars are on all the flags, except one each, at the Disney parks?

I am midway through season 3 and am really enjoying it. Like most period pieces, there are some anachronisms and inaccuracies, but none of them take away from the vivid imagery and style of the late fifties/early sixties, captured even more boldly than in Mad Men. I love the supporting characters (Kevin Pollak and Tony Shalhoub are especially good) and Alex Borstein rocks, in spite of the need to drop an f-bomb every other line.

I’ll keep watching.
