Just my luck
Have been feeling a little off lately, shortness of breath etc. So I call the cardiologist, he said come right in, takes an EKG, and the says "Go to the emergency room, you had a heart attack a few weeks ago."

Damn! I just read my owner's manual and it says to go to the emergency room immediately when having a heart attack. READ YOUR INSTRUCTION MANUAL!eyégor wrote:Have been feeling a little off lately, shortness of breath etc. So I call the cardiologist, he said come right in, takes an EKG, and the says "Go to the emergency room, you had a heart attack a few weeks ago."

Seriously, I hope it all works out. Good luck!

How could you miss the signs? Clutching of the chest. Swaying of the outstretched arm. Overly dramatic acting...

Re: Just my luck
Let me get this straight. You're in the cardiologist's office. He's the specialist. So what does he do? Sends you to the emergency room where you can pay a lot of your insurance company's money (and your co-pay) for them to refer you back to your cardiologist.eyégor wrote:Have been feeling a little off lately, shortness of breath etc. So I call the cardiologist, he said come right in, takes an EKG, and the says "Go to the emergency room, you had a heart attack a few weeks ago."

Seriously, though, I hope you are doing okay. Heart problems are definitely not a laughing matter.

Re: Just my luck
I thought those "heart muscle destruction enzymes" didn't last that long.
Guess I'm wrong?
I had way-bad symptoms a few days ago. Really specific left shoulder pain. But I had been stressing that arm on a job.
And I've had plenty of sweating & "gee I feel bad" episodes. When women go in for that, we get told "now now".
I *have* had circulation around my heart checked (because of what were probably gallstone pains) in the past few years. Heart vessels were fine.
And I'm having such a bad reaction to new diabetes drug, Victoza, which among other things slows your stomach emptying, that I don't know what is what. As I had liquid depleting you-know-what for 3 days running, & literally *couldn't* eat or drink (well I forced myself to drink) I've dialed back the dose.
I did have a cold too, but these aren't my usual cold symptoms.
Sure lost weight though!

OK you said EKG, but how can they tell from an EKG when the attack was weeks ago?

Really glad you’re ok. What’s next? Any rumblings of bypass surgery?

Re: Just my luck
I'm glad it wasn't much worse. It seems to me that if you had a heart attack but you had weeks to get to your doctor's office without dying first, then in a very real way you were lucky.
