(Gray News) - Eddie Money, the singer known for such hits as “Two Tickets to Paradise” and “Take Me Home Tonight," died Friday of esophageal cancer.

“The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning," the family said in a statement. "It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

Money recently announced he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.

In my band, we covered Two Tickets To Paradise and Wanna Be A Rock 'n Roll Star from his first album.

I also admit ripping off some of his stage moves.

RIP, Mr. Mahoney..you rocked well.

One of my favorite radio shows is a show out of Minneapolis called Crap From The Past. They recently did an Eddie Money tribute show. They played some clips from American Top 40 (Casey & Shadoe) & also some original AT40 commercials as well. They didn't play "Maybe I'm A Fool" though. It's one of my favorite Eddie Money songs:

I'll have a link to the archive of the show once it's posted.

Discussion on another Board I'm on:

Eddie Money for R & R Hall of Fame - Yay or Nay.

I'm inclined to say nay - nice long career, but not enough for the Hall. I'd say he's about comparable with say Bryan Adams or Pat Benatar Of course considering some of the others who have been inducted, the bar seems to be getting lower

I don't think he gets in either. If he does get in, it would be after a really long wait.
