I read this story in today's Los Angeles Times. An incoming freshman at Harvard, student visa in hand, was denied entry to the country to begin his studies. He plans to major in chemical and physical biology.

When he arrived at Logan Airport in Boston, immigration authorities asked him about his religion and then spent hours poring through his social media accounts after seizing his phone and computer. They decided they didn't like the opinions people on his friends list were posting about the United States, and on that basis refused to honor his visa by admitting him to the country.

I'm guessing, by the way, that the student's name, origin, and appearance probably had more than a little to do with the scrutiny he received. His name is Ismael Ajjawi.

I agree. I hope that it is never normal that educated people reach opinions on important issues based on one side of the story.

Gee, if only there were an open marketplace, or exchange, where you could find a policy more to your liking. Or an option to buy into Medicare now instead of having to wait until you're 65. --Bob
