My last day in the cathedral of baseball

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Fri May 09, 2008 3:37 pm

Went to the Ballpark in the Bronx yesterday. My last visit to Yankee Stadium, my "Field of Dreams" since my first visit in 1965. I got the same goosebumps with my first glimpse of the outfield grass yesterday that I did with my first glimpse of it as an 8-year-old.

A nice 6-3 victory, a pleasant drive to and from with my buddy from work, and some bittersweet feelings as we took our last look at the place where I once saw Mickey Mantle play.

I don't care HOW many bells and whistles the new place has...it just won't be the same.

Sorry, I don't know the words to the Cats song everyone hates.

What a cool afternoon for you.

I'm glad you got to see it once more.

I still have to see the Mets, whether it's Shea or the new park, so I'll check with you when that happens. Maybe we can do both parks next summer.

You have your memories. Cherish them.

You could make new memories, not comparing them to the old ones.

Glad you enjoyed your last visit to the Stadium.

I'll get to see the same this coming Saturday and probably at least a couple more times this summer. Will likely also check out Shea at least once or twice before it closes.

I am very glad you got to go yesterday.

There is nothing like Yankee Stadium. Never will be. Still can't fathom next year and a new park.

That would be way cool.
