Well, we now know what it takes to get a Republican to stand up to the NRA on gun control. Representative Michael Turner's daughter and a friend were in a bar across the street from where the shooting began Saturday night (Turner represents the district where the shooting occurred). Fortunately, they were not injured in the shootout. But that did get Turner to reconsider his stand on gun control:

While I'm glad Turner (who had a 93% rating from the NRA) is reconsidering his position, it shouldn't take having a family member in the line of fire to do so. The dozens of other deaths over the past years should be more than enough reason.Congressman Michael Turner wrote:The carnage these military-style weapons are able to produce when available to the wrong people is intolerable. This tragedy must become a catalyst for a broader national conversation about what we can do to stop these mass shootings.
