WWTBAM Bored

I got THE CALL for the Tenth Anniversary Shows.

Others also got their calls that day, so a great time for the bored!

I'd recently received a layoff notice, and still had no idea how much that call would change my life. Thanks to all the bored buddies, for their encouragement and help over the years that made getting to the hotseat possible. (And special thanks for the all-star phone-a-friends: Bob#s, jeemie, and clem, who nailed the $50K question!) Reading back through the posts from that time had me all misty-eyed.

I got a job at a local company in December that year, and I've been here ever since working with the best job and people of my career.

This got me to thinking about my call back then, so I had to go back and look at those threads. Brought back some memories..some good, some a little sad. The good is mostly from the tremendous outpouring of support, also on display for Mr. Hardware in his own thread linked above. The sad is that so many bb's have moved on from this bored, save for a few of us diehards. The other sad is from the end result of that adventure, although I'd classify it more as some lingering disappointment, when I think about it..which admittedly I don't very often. That last time I missed by fractions of a second, so that part was the hardest to accept. Still, I have come to believe that a higher power stepped in to prevent me from making a fool of myself on national television in some manner

I was ruminating not long ago, realizing I was approaching 15 years since my hot seat appearance. Seems unbelievable.

This December will be 19 years since I was on.

It's been 13 for me. I don't recall if any BB regular went on after I did.
