Apparently I missed an additional standard deduction for over 65 which resulted in us getting a refund of part of our irs payment.

!!!
No kidding. We don't use an accountant anymore since our deductions are minimal (no mortgage, loans, etc), and it woulda been a wash if we had. Still I need to get with the program...christie1111 wrote:Where is the like button?
And don't forget to ask for your 50-cent senior citizen discount at the Golden Corral. (That's 50 cents, not 50 percent)Beebs52 wrote:Apparently I missed an additional standard deduction for over 65 which resulted in us getting a refund of part of our irs payment.

Did you use one of the free online programs, e.g. TaxAct? You know you should have two extra deductions, right?Beebs52 wrote:No kidding. Which two would those be? I took whatever the new stuff was, obviously missing that one. I may try an online next year. Even with ss machinations I thought I was okay.Bob Juch wrote:Did you use one of the free online programs, e.g. TaxAct? You know you should have two extra deductions, right?Beebs52 wrote:No kidding. One each for you and your husband for being born before 1964. TaxAct asked me the birthdates of my family and me so I didn't need to check anything.Beebs52 wrote:Which two would those be?
