Not Florida but they were headed that direction.

Texas man dancing on top of 18-wheeler dies after slamming into bridge

The incident occurred in the Houston area.
A Texas man who jumped onto a moving 18-wheeler before starting to dance later died after slamming into a bridge, police say. The driver of the red Kenworth 18-wheeler had no knowledge that the man had climbed on top of the cargo portion of the truck, according to a news release from the Houston Police Department.
Police said the man was recording himself and was knocked off as the truck passed underneath the Tuam Street Bridge
It’s unclear why the man was on top of the 18-wheeler.
Those last two lines aren't near each other in the article, but I think the first one answers he second one.

A Florida woman has filed a $5 million class action lawsuit against Kraft, alleging that the advertising on their microwavable Velveeta shells & cheese single-serve cups is deceptive. The side of the container says it is ready in 3 1/2 minutes. However, the woman claims that while the recommended microwave time is 3.5 minutes, that does not include the time it takes to remove the lid, pour the cheese pouch into the cup, add water, and stir. So she says the advertising is false and misleading. Her attorneys say that Kraft is able to sell the cups at a premium because consumers believe the 3.5 minute claim, otherwise they wouldn't pay that much money. Her complaint alleges that the only reason she paid that much money for the cup was because she believed the 3.5 minute claim. She added that customers trust Kraft to be honest with them.

In a statement, Kraft claims the lawsuit is frivolous and that the company will defend itself strongly. For what it's worth, both Florida and federal civil practice provisions allow for assessing attorney's fees against an attorney that files a frivolous lawsuit.

Florida man throws Christmas tree at wife after being asked to help with dinner

A Florida man allegedly threw a Christmas tree at his wife during an argument that was sparked when she asked him to help make dinner, authorities said.

Richard Atchison, 52, "lost his temper" in the couple's Fruitland Park home Monday evening after his wife asked for help and put a spoon in the sink, accidentally splashing him with water, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 35 Orlando.

Atchison packed his things and went outside to his vehicle, before returning home because "he had been drinking" and told his wife to leave instead.

Sexual bondage date turned deadly when victim bit man’s genitals, Florida cops say

A man’s bondage sex date turned deadly when the partner he met online took offense to being bitten on the genitals, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators discovered a motive when they tracked down “the last person who had been in contact with the victim,” according to a news release. It took four months to arrest the 34-year-old suspect, who has been charged with manslaughter and possession of methamphetamine, officials said.

Baseball legend Jackie Robinson's name misspelled as "Jakie" on NYC road sign

New York City's Department of Transportation swung and missed with a road sign for the Jackie Robinson Parkway that spelled the baseball Hall of Famer's first name as "Jakie."

The sign spotted Sunday in Queens featured a picture of Robinson, Major League Baseball's first Black player in the modern era, over the words "Jakie Robinson Parkway."

Department of Transportation spokesperson Scott Gastel said the botched sign was replaced Monday.

Hello from Ohio,

Pickaway County man hospitalized after pet zebra attack

A man was hospitalized Sunday after a zebra he owned nearly bit the man's arm off in Pickaway County.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Sunday on the 6900 block of Darby Road in Circleville. Pickaway County Sheriff's office deputies found the 72-year-old man in a fenced-in field, lying on the ground.

The zebra continued acting erratically while deputies were on the scene assisting the man and reportedly charged at a deputy's cruiser that had been positioned to keep the animal from being able to get to the victim.

The sheriff's office said the zebra continued to act in a way that appeared aggressive, so deputies began blowing air horns and yelling at the zebra to try and scare it away. The zebra reportedly continued to charge at deputies and fire crews, as well as other members of the victim's family.

A deputy eventually shot and killed the zebra because of its aggressive behavior.

Florida school principal resigns after complaints over "pornographic" David sculpture

A Florida charter school principal resigned her position this week after parents complained when sixth-grade students were shown photos of Michelangelo's "David" statue during an art history lesson.

Hope Carrasquilla offered her resignation to the Tallahassee Classical School's board after parents alleged the images of one of the most famous and celebrated statues in the world were "pornographic" and "unsuitable" for the school, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

FBI arrests guardsman who applied for job on RentAHitman.com

Josiah Garcia reportedly told undercover agent he was an excellent shot and willing to torture people and cut off fingers or ears

Fake website RentAHitman.com has snagged another would-be killer-for-hire after a US soldier applied to be an assassin and accepted his first (fake) mission apparently believing it to be real.

Josiah Garcia, a Tennessee air national guardsman, was arrested after federal agents said he responded to an online ad through the parody website.

A six story glass facade building, center, is believed to be the site of a foreign police outpost for China in New York's Chinatown, Monday, April 17, 2023. Justice Department officials say two men have been arrested on charges that they helped establish a secret police outpost in New York City on behalf of the Chinese government. FBI arrests two New Yorkers accused of running covert Chinese police station

The site was originally created in 2005 to advertise a cybersecurity company that never took off. However, it received many inquiries over the years about murder-for-hire services, according to the affidavit. Eventually, the site administrator turned it into a parody site with fake testimonials, an intake form to request services and an application form to become a hired killer.

Tampa mayor reels in 70 pounds of cocaine during her family fishing trip

While on a fishing trip in the Florida Keys with her family earlier this summer, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor reeled in an unexpected catch: 70 pounds of cocaine, estimated to be worth more than $1 million.

Castor, who previously served as Tampa's police chief, said the drug bale appeared to have been floating in the water for a while already when she found it, CBS affiliate WTSP reported.

"You know my family was concerned, like, 'Oh my gosh, what if they think it's ours,'" Castor joked in an interview with the news station. "I'm like, come on. So, we pulled it up and then as soon as we were in cellphone range just to call and notify them."

Florida Woman Allegedly Poured Mountain Dew on Herself to Hide Evidence After Murdering Roommate
A Florida woman has been accused of using soda to cover up the evidence of her involvement in a murder. Daytona Beach Police Department arrested 35-year-old Nichole Maks July 1 in connection to the death of her roommate Michael Cerasoli, 79, who authorities said died from blunt force trauma to the back of his head and multiple stab wounds to his torso.

Police later located Maks, who was holding a knife and hammer with visible blood stains on her leg. The authorities further stated that while questioning Maks on her whereabouts during the time of Cerasoli's murder—during which they said she repeatedly changed her story—she was informed they had a search warrant to obtain samples of her DNA. That's when, according to police, Maks allegedly requested a beverage.

Officer V. Pittman provided a diet Mountain Dew. Maks began to procrastinate while drinking the soft drink then when Detective J. Wallace attempted to grab the can of soda from Maks' hands, Maks began to resist and began pouring the can of soda all over her body and hair and pulling away from officers in attempts to interfere with the possible evidence on Maks' body. Police said Maks allegedly pulled and kicked officers who tried to escort her inside a patrol vehicle. As a result of the altercation, she was charged with tampering with evidence and resisting arrest with violence in addition to the murder charge at the time, according to police.

Nearly three weeks later, Maks' DNA matched the DNA found on a bloody knife located near Cerasoli's body.

Florida man arrested by Coast Guard for trying to cross Atlantic in human-sized hamster wheel

Coast Guard officials arrested a Florida man after they intercepted his unusual hamster wheel contraption that he was allegedly attempting to ‘run’ to London.

According to a criminal complaint, 44-year-old Reza Baluchi is facing federal charges after he was rescued 70 miles off Tybee Island, Georgia by coast guard officials. The marathoner was found on August 26 in his bizarre hamster wheel contraption and asked "standard questions."

"Based on the condition of the vessel – which was afloat as a result of wiring and buoys – USCG officers determined Baluchi was conducting a manifestly unsafe voyage," the criminal complaint says.

The "manifesting unsafe" vessel is a giant metal drum, with inflatable buoys on each side and paddles that are powered by a runner inside.

That's too bad. If he had made his way into the path of Hurricane Lee and taken the right heading, he would have made record time to England.

Vermont, reporting for duty:

Police: Naked woman arrested after auto theft, crash, leap from interstate in Hartford

A naked woman stole a vehicle on Thursday morning from an auto repair shop off Route 5, drove onto Interstate 91 and collided with a cement truck and fled the scene by jumping off the overpass onto another highway before she was detained, according to the Hartford police.

The woman suffered “significant” though not life-threatening injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Health for treatment. According to a Hartford police report, the woman was suspected of experiencing a mental health crisis and, for that reason, police have declined to name her.

Wild bear in Magic Kingdom forces multiple ride closures at Disney World
Disney World guests were just treated to a new kind of Country Bear Jamboree. A wild bear was found inside the park Monday morning, prompting the closure of at least 10 attractions inside the Frontierland, Adventureland, and Liberty Square areas. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission tells EW that biologists with FWC's Bear Management Program, as well as FWC Law Enforcement officers, are "working on capturing and relocating the bear," who they say was likely moving through the park in search of food.

According to the My Disney Experience app, affected rides and experiences included the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the train ride that circles the entire park and features a stop on the west end of the park. The bear's presence marks the second time an uninvited critter has crashed the Magic Kingdom this year, after a squirrel took a spin on the park's classic Carousel of Progress attraction in July.

78-year-old allegedly shoots, kills neighbor who was trimming trees along their property lines

A 78-year-old Florida man allegedly shot and killed his neighbor who was trimming trees along their property lines, authorities said.

The shooting was reported around 7:13 p.m. Sunday in DeLeon Springs, about 45 miles north of Orlando, the Volusia Sheriff's Office said.

Brian Ford, 42, was trimming tree limbs along the fence line between two properties when his neighbor, 78-year-old Edward Druzolowski, confronted him, according to the sheriff's office.

Druzolowski later told police that he threatened to shoot, and when his neighbor didn't leave, he shot him, the sheriff's office said.
