I don't think this will move the needle much on Trump in the long run. He'll get a short-term boost in his approval rating until the next time he does something incredibly stupid. But for the most part, those like Flock and Trump Jr. who are taking victory laps (and using virtually identical language) were in his corner anyway and those opposed to him still have plenty of reasons to do so.

If it was never about "getting to the truth," then why did Trump keep trying his best to shut the whole thing down. The Republicans launched a four-year probe of Whitewater (which turned up nothing), but you never heard Bill Clinton keep calling it fake or a witch hunt. The whole circus was left alone for 2 years and millions of dollars and every accusation or story he was going to fire someone was FAKE. Trump said it was a witch hunt from the start. He had the unmitigated gall to defend himself and say what he actually believed. And he was right.
