The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

For anyone who has Netflix, they've just premiered a new movie (it's also playing at a handful of art houses) from the Coen Brothers that's one of the best films of theirs I've seen, although it's definitely not for everyone's tastes. It's called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and it's a Western anthology consisting of six short stories running 20-30 minutes each, with a different cast for each segment. None of these are what you would call a conventional Western story and a couple are very depressing but they are all well made and offer a different take on traditional Western stories. The cast includes Liam Neeson, James Franco, and Coen regular Tim Blake Nelson as the title character, who appears in the first segment (probably the funniest and lightest touch) as a singing cowboy.
Anyone who likes the Coen Brothers or is interested in an offbeat Western and has Netflix should check this out.
