This weekend our youngest son will graduate from Purdue University. We'll be driving up for the ceremonies on Saturday morning. I presume other schools do something similar, but our son's "school" will have its graduation on Saturday afternoon at 4PM; other "schools" will have their graduations at other times on Friday and Saturday. It's hard, I guess, to convene 20K students plus family and others in one place (except maybe the football stadium).

I found out last night that the Wheelmobile will be in town this weekend at Churchill Downs. The local station that carries Wheel has passes that can be printed out from online - they're for free admission to the Downs, along with some information and instructions. There will be three "shows" each day. I might have thought about going if it weren't for the fact that we're going to be out of town (we're staying over Saturday night and then helping our son pack up his stuff on Sunday).

His degree is in history and he wants to work in museums as a curator. He has a job interview scheduled for next week in Seattle - with the Jimi Hendrix Experience/Science Fiction Museum, no less! If that comes through, he will attend graduate school out there, which is nice because the school is one of the best in the field. Plus some of his college housemates are moving out there so he would have a place to stay.

Cool!

There's one museum that covers the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Science Fiction? That's a surprising combination.

It's called the "Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Hall of Fame". The two are located in a single building but occupy different wings (and you have to pay separately for each one). I had a chance to tour both of them a few years ago when a user conference was in Seattle, and they are very interesting indeed. Several years later I had a chance to go back for just the science-fiction wing.

http://www.empsfm.org has a lot of information.

So two different museums, really. I think I'd only pay to go to one of those.

Guess which! :P

Congratulations to your son. I hope his future goes the way he hopes.
Seeing your child graduate from college is something a parent never forgets.
Good luck to him and his future.

Not that I know of. I think he was waiting until job opportunities resolved themselves before making a commitment.
