Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
At least eight are dead in a shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue. The shooter apparently rushed in and began firing indiscriminately, yelling, "All Jews must die!"

Re: Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
I don't think it's a coincidence that these incidents have been on the rise. And I think the guy who called neo-Nazi sympathizers "very fine people" bears some of the responsibility for a mass shooting that targeted Jews. Maybe not as much as the elected legislators who refuse to enact anything remotely approaching sensible gun legislation, and certainly not as much as the guy who pulled the trigger, but enough to deserve being called out for the consequences of his rhetoric. --BobBackInTex wrote:I was going to bet on how long a Bob, any Bob, would wait until bringing politics into this. And while we're on the subject, we almost had a similar incident a week ago. Instead, he wound up going to a Kroger.

I’m appalled by this murder and don’t want to politicize it. But (returning to yesterday’s headline) Trump shouldn’t condemn Soros as a globalist (right-wing insult of liberal Jews) just days after Soros gets a pile bomb.

Saucy:
It didn't go off.
Unlike the Krogers & Pittsburgh killers.
I'm still alive so Mr. Pittsburgh-Jew-killer hasn't finished his work yet..
Honestly, if I'm going to be killed, I'd like it to be by someone who hates my guts for some reason, not by someone who picks out a whole ethnic/racial/whatever group they hate.

Still, shame on you. First post about this tragedy and you make it political.

But I will say this....this shooter has much in common with Bob#s. Bob#s can be defined for his hate of Trump. So can this guy. They are on the same team.

Why is globalist automatically "liberal Jews"? Most people don't know nor care whether Soros is Jewish. Very odd statement.jarnon wrote:I’m appalled by this murder and don’t want to politicize it. Like you, most American politicians are probably unaware of the connotation. (That’s not the case in his native Hungary.). I hope they become educated and use more appropriate insults.

Re: Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
Some people do hate Soros because he's Jewish and part of the international Jewish conspiracy in their minds.BackInTex wrote: That’s BS. People don’t dislike Soros because he’s Jewish, it’s in spite of it. He is dangerous to our country.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/ ... f62266c9afThe far right has ecstatically embraced the spectacle of elected political figures such as Trump and [Congressman Matt] Gaetz theorizing about Soros. After Trump’s Soros tweet about Kavanaugh, the neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer echoed and surpassed Trump’s assertion that anti-Kavanaugh dissent was a nefarious, paid-for plot. “It is impossible to deny that subversive anti-American Jews were the primary force involved in a sinister plot to destroy Kavanaugh,” Lee Rogers wrote on the site a couple of days later. “These Jews do not represent the interest of America. They represent the interest of their diabolical and evil race first and foremost.”
In response to an Oct. 19 Trump speech in Missoula, Mont., in which Trump again suggested that protesters were paid by “Soros or somebody,” a commenter on anonymous message board 4chan exulted, “TRUMP NAMED THE IMMIGRATION JEW.” (“Naming the Jew” is an anti-Semitic term that refers to pointing out purported nefarious Jewish influence on world events.)
The conspiracy theories around Soros, then, aren’t just expressions of bitter partisanship — and fact-checking-focused debunking that’s tempered coverage of the claims that he was involved in the caravan has skipped past an important subtext. Soros’s Jewish heritage is well known — his experiences in the Holocaust formed his identity as a philanthropist, in a decades-long effort to beat back a revanchist right. And his name has become a synonym for a well-worn anti-Semitic canard: the idea that Jews are malevolent fomenters of social dissent, agitators slyly funding and masterminding protest, seeking to undermine a white, Christian social order. It is a canard that resonates not just in European history, where the deadly consequences of anti-Semitic conspiracies are well-known, but throughout American history, and its renewed form draws on a long tradition of American anti-Semitism.
And given every opportunity to act presidential, Trump acts petty and partisan and continues to fan the flames that breed dangerous idiots like these shooters and bombers.
Instead, he continues to blame the media for the violence because they've been unfair to him and now suggests that the synagogue should have had armed guards (rather than extend any sympathy towards the victims and their families).

Re: Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
That is a disgusting calumny. The only thing President Obama did to fan the flames that stoke violence was to be a black man who had the audacity to get himself elected President of the United States. He showed tolerance, compassion, and respect for his political opponents, even those whose avowed mission was to make him a one-term President by opposing anything and everything he attempted to accomplish, even things they used to support.BackInTex wrote:I said the same thing about Obama. In this case, by the way, there's a pretty clear link between Donny's rhetoric and the shooter's motives:
