I don't think it's a coincidence that these incidents have been on the rise. And I think the guy who called neo-Nazi sympathizers "very fine people" bears some of the responsibility for a mass shooting that targeted Jews. Maybe not as much as the elected legislators who refuse to enact anything remotely approaching sensible gun legislation, and certainly not as much as the guy who pulled the trigger, but enough to deserve being called out for the consequences of his rhetoric. --Bob

After Trump’s Soros tweet about Kavanaugh, the neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer echoed and surpassed Trump’s assertion that anti-Kavanaugh dissent was a nefarious, paid-for plot. “It is impossible to deny that subversive anti-American Jews were the primary force involved in a sinister plot to destroy Kavanaugh,” Lee Rogers wrote on the site a couple of days later. “These Jews do not represent the interest of America. They represent the interest of their diabolical and evil race first and foremost.”

In response to an Oct. 19 Trump speech in Missoula, Mont., in which Trump again suggested that protesters were paid by “Soros or somebody,” a commenter on anonymous message board 4chan exulted, “TRUMP NAMED THE IMMIGRATION JEW.” (“Naming the Jew” is an anti-Semitic term that refers to pointing out purported nefarious Jewish influence on world events.)

I said the same thing about Obama. We, unfortunately, are both right.

That is a disgusting calumny. The only thing President Obama did to fan the flames that stoke violence was to be a black man who had the audacity to get himself elected President of the United States. He showed tolerance, compassion, and respect for his political opponents, even those whose avowed mission was to make him a one-term President by opposing anything and everything he attempted to accomplish, even things they used to support.
