Tv tech, guru, whoever may have answer

We have a 5-7 year old Sanyo that is our outside tv. Just started to auto flip thru input settings-video, hdmi 1, 2 3, won't hold a channel, etc. Did all the plug unplug and all that crap. Called Sanyo who said it's too old, call another number to reset, blah blah. Are we screwed or is there something stupidly simple we can do?

Did you make sure it's not the remote that's stuck? If it's still acting up after removing the batteries from the remote, it's ready to become a boat anchor as it would cost more to fix than it's worth.

I have as my only TV an old Sony Trinitron. It was sold to me by my video repair place. I fixed it flpping by choosing an input channel somewhere other than the proscribed channel 3. If this helps any.

Not the remotes. Even dragged out the tv remote...
Your assessment is sorta what I thought vis a vis anchor.

It's not even possible to lock anything in. It'll stay on for a bit then go merrily moving. It's time for a new tv.

I just saw (over the weekend?) an ad for Fry's where they had a 65" 4K HDR for about $599. It stuck out to me because I bought a 55" 3D w/player for almost twice that about 5 or 6 years ago.

I just checked their website and they have tons for sale, many on clearance. If you don't want to go the internet route, they have stores in many parts of TX.

I buy only Sony TVs and Blu-Ray players. You really do get what you pay for.

Here's what I'd get:

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR55X900F- ... uage=en_US

or

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-KD55X720E-5 ... uage=en_US

I'm drooling over this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR85X900F- ... uage=en_US

Do not get an OLED one for outdoor use (these aren't). The sun will kill the screen.

Check out B&H Video. I bought out last two TVs there. Got great deals (and no sales tax).

We have Samsung TVs. No problems.

Our newest is a Samsung and we'll move it outside and put new inside. Still will do online.

I've bought from B&H through Amazon.
