:D

Fun weekend in Fargo visting my daughter and playing in a bridge tournament. I needed 3.42 Masterpoints to obtain my "Life Master". I got yer done on Sunday with our 1st place finish in the "B" division. It was a Swiss team event and to make it special, our team not only beat the team that won the overall, we also beat the Barry Harper team. (bridge players will know who Barry is---he is a full time playing pro and should/will win more masterpoints that any other Canadian this year). 8 board matches and we beat Barry by 16 imps. I played the same seat as Barry and made a 3N contract when he went down playing the same hand in 4H. Also, I had or maybe it was luck, good judgement on a hand where I stopped in 2N making and he went down in 3N. Anyway, it was fun to obtain a goal. I still have other bridge goals out there.

Trivia--my daughter's trivia team always plays on Friday nights so I passed on the bridge to play trivia. She claims they always miss the 70's TV question so that is why I was there. I did mange to help on 3 questions. First NFL team to select a 2nd player this year before all teams had selected one player. Easy--Chiefs because of the trade with the Vikings---Chiefs got the Viking round 1 pick as well as their own. Who was the actor that played Major Frank Burns on Mash?--Larry Linville . Last names of Three's company Janet, Chrissie and Jack---Wood, Snow and Tripper. On the final question you needed to come up with 4 of the 6 Neil Diamond songs that made the top 4 of the top 100 of something. I could come up with several Diamond songs, but alas, we only had 3 correct. We had Sweet Caroline, Craklin Rose, I Am I Said, and Kentucky Woman. Love on Rocks--was one and I do not remember that one at all. Song Sung Blue and Forever in Blue Jeans. It was fun.

My nephew that also lives in Fargo and plays on the trivia team found out Thursday that his book will be published in hardcover(whatever that means) in early 2009. I know very little other than he had an agent and my nephew received 8 rejects before hearing the good news. They also want a sequel. It is a fiction (I think fantasy) geared to young adults. Good for him.

One month away from my CA trip. Uly, how about something on late the 8th? I will be in the San Diego area until late that afternoon. We fly home on Thursday the 12th.

Please let us know what the title is. We have a good crop of YA readers associated with the Bored.

Congratulations on the master points and the trivia. I assume that was an NTN game. As of now, I will be around on the 8th.

Please do! I spend more on books than clothes each month and half of my book budget is Young Adult books, which always seem to be in hardback!

No, it was not NTN, just some guy that does 4 nights of trivia around town at various bars. My daughter and team do 2 nights a week. He (the bar) pays the top 3 teams in "bar bucks"--30-20-10. He does a really nice job. 3 rounds with increasing values for the questions. Final question is a 4 part question and you must get all 4 parts (4 of the 6 Diamond songs) to get credit. You can "wager" from 0-20pts on the question so there is some strategy at the end. There were 18 teams Friday. This "trivia" guy will be hosting a game at my said nephew's wedding reception June 14th--right after we get back from SoCal.

Trivia at a wedding. Cool. As long as it's mot about the Baltimore Colts! Sorry, couldn't resist the movie reference, and yes, I know the Colt test was not at the wedding.
I play live bar trivia two nights a week here. I'll check and see if he has a Sunday night game....or not.
