Maybe it was nerves that got the better of her but this shouldn't have required a lifeline.

And it's only the 2nd day. Evidently her husband isn't that good at math after all.

No, but I'm not surprised you started one. I’ll play along... Good thing that answering questions isn’t her day job.

It looks easy, but put yourself in her shoes. Hanukkah...no. Easter..no. New Year’s Day...who invented that?
Spoiler
I had to look it up: originally the Roman Senate in 153 BC; the Council of Tours abolished it in 567; Pope Gregory XIII restored it in his calendar.

But the question included "union leader" not once but twice. Of those four answers, which one is the most likely to be of interest to "union leader"s?

2K: I don't know song either. But only B makes sense, which makes sense at this level.

The contestant was an infant when the song was written. She probably thinks this is a peace sign:

Sarah is the season’s first llama.
The transcript doesn't begin to do justice to this train wreck.

First of all, Sarah didn't even try to do the math herself before calling up her +1. Okaaaay, burn a lifeline because you recognize your weaknesses.

But then, when Jonathan "who's good in math" gets called up, he boldly offers the opinion that this isn't a math question at all! They're just asking how many calories a cupcake has. After they settle on their guess, it never occurs to either of them that a little math (with an easy approximation available when the choices are an order of magnitude apart) might be wise to confirm their hunch. Nor do they realize that their 960 calorie cupcakes would be roughly half of an adult's recommended daily total calories.
