Do you suppose Trumpo will start calling him Native American names?

Probably not, but he'll be accused of it.ghostjmf wrote:says the BBC.

Why would he? Burt never used his heritage as a crutch. He never lied about it, as far as I know.ghostjmf wrote:says the BBC.

There is no trigger. No matter what the subject of the thread, one or more of the trump haters will feel the need to get in some derogatory swipe at trump. I don't understand it, but they seem to get some kind of thrill out of it.BackInTex wrote:Why would he? Burt never used his heritage as a crutch. And you will feel the need to come to his defense, no matter how indefensible his actions, while at the same time proclaiming that you're not a Trump supporter. I don't understand it, but you seem to get some kind of thrill out of it.flockofseagulls104 wrote: No matter what the subject of the thread, one or more of the trump haters will feel the need to get in some derogatory swipe at trump. One of his more entertaining early movies was 100 Rifles, in which he played third fiddle to the rather steamy on-screen action between Jim Brown and Raquel Welch. Reynolds' character in that one was an Indian (technically, half-Indian).ghostjmf wrote:BiT:
Re trigger, not the horse:
BBC conversation about Reynolds had one conversant saying that Reynolds' early bit roles included Native Americans.
It's relevant because, back then, Indian, Asian, Italian, etc. roles were often stereotypes, but presumably if you belong to the ethnic group you'll try to be more accurate.ghostjmf wrote:BiT:

Lansing?ghostjmf wrote:Reynolds *did* lie about where he was born, according to Wikipedia. Apparently Lansing wasn't very charismatic. And he wasn't there that long.
Five years earlier, John Ford's last movie was Cheyenne Autumn, a rather progressive for its time look at the plight of the American Indians (in this case, being relocated to rather squalid conditions hundreds of miles from their homes) that many felt was a form of apology by Ford for his treatment of Indians in earlier films. However, he cast such "authentically" Indian actors as Sal Mineo, Ricardo Montalban, Dolores del Rio, and Gilbert Roland in the lead Indian roles.jarnon wrote:It's relevant because, back then, Indian, Asian, Italian, etc. roles were often stereotypes, but presumably if you belong to the ethnic group you'll try to be more accurate.
I don't give a shit whether you or anyone else thinks I'm a trump supporter or not. Again, since you don't read my posts, IS IT A FUCKING CRIME OR SOMETHING? What I am NOT is a trump hater, which apparently requires you to mindlessly oppose anything that can be traced back to him, interject stupid comments and insults ranging from the supposedly humorous to disgustingly hateful, into any subject to malign him and consider anyone with an open mind as a 'trump supporter', whatever that means.silverscreenselect wrote:And you will feel the need to come to his defense, no matter how indefensible his actions, while at the same time proclaiming that you're not a Trump supporter. trump supporters most certainly do not have open minds.flockofseagulls104 wrote:I don't give a shit whether you or anyone else thinks I'm a trump supporter or not. Once again, I am proved right. For someone who claims "I don't give a shit whether you or anyone else thinks I'm a Trump supporter or not," you sure get upset when anyone mentions you and Trump supporters in the same post.flockofseagulls104 wrote:I don't give a shit whether you or anyone else thinks I'm a trump supporter or not.
