Simply Disgusting Politics

First, let me say that I have no doubts that if Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton were to die tomorrow, that many of the left and/or right-wing bloggers would have a field day heaping abuse on the deceased along the lines of "good riddance" but a whole lot cruder.

But I've seen and heard (via the Tweets I get) some truly disgusting rhetoric about John McCain over the last 48 hours and the vast majority of it is originating on right-wing sites. I've seen cemetery headstones with McCain's name and the words "piss here" photoshopped on them and some truly low blows questioning his courage during his Vietnam captivity.

Even these aren't the worst. They come from anonymous bloggers or low-level sites mostly. The worst came from Kelli Ward, who is one of three Republicans running to replace Jeff Flake in the Senate. By most polls, the highly conservative Ward is in a not-too-close second place to Martha McSally, a more mainstream candidate.

One of her staffers posted on Facebook: "I wonder if it were just a coincidence that Sen. McCain released his statement on the kickoff day of Kelli Ward's bus tour or if it was a plan to take media attention off her campaign. I'm not saying it was on purpose but it's quite interesting."

Ward replied: “I think they wanted to have a particular narrative that they hope is negative to me.”

I'm sure that the primary thing on the McCain family's mind was how best they could use his death to sabotage Kelli Ward's senatorial campaign and that they timed it for just that purpose. Of course, Ward later blamed the entire affair on the media.

SSS, let me introduce you to my very-left-wing facebook friends (they're on there because they supported me in a desperate cause that failed) who call McCain a war criminal because he dropped bombs on Vietnam.

Just for the record I also protested the Vietnam war, but don't think the men at McCain's rank decided policy.

Just for the record, the worst thing Repubs to the right of McCain said is when they claimed his adopted child of a different race than his was his love child.

If McCain *had* a "love child", he's the kind of guy who *would* have adopted them. What's so bad about that..

originating on right-wing sites.
Are you kidding me? Are you really going to go there?
The right-wing lunatic fringe has nothing over the left-wing lunatic fringe. They are both insane, and used by both sides to characterize and caricature the other.

When you get your information exclusively from Fox News and Breitbart, it's no wonder you develop a rather skewed view of the left and right wing sites. I have yet to see any of the vitriol directed at McCain on left wing sites as I have on right wing sites.

And I have especially not heard any Democratic politician make comments like Kelli Ward. Chuck Schumer has proposed renaming the Senate Office Building after John McCain, an honor that I think is entirely appropriate.

Here is a left-wing smear

Of course, since the smear is Trump based it's O.K., right?

How many times do I have to tell you, I DON'T "get -my- information exclusively from Fox News and Breitbart". Your irrational inability to accept that is not only frustrating, but telling.
Take a look at the disgusting vitriol thrown at trump and his adminstration EVERY DAY, which you, yourself, engage in, and you will see disgusting politics.

aSSShole, your constant berating of Fox News and any other source of information that is not 'PC' approved indicates you're comfortable in your echo chamber. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I have been thanked by the Democratic party for the money I've donated. As for the socialists and antifa, their actual influence is about the same as that of the monster under the bed, while their real effectiveness is when Trump brings them up to frighten his useful idiots when needed.

There are more antifa, socialist agitators, drummed up protesters by far than there are 'white supremacists'. In your echo chamber there are millions of them (WS), but the former are 'noble citizens'. Try not to comment on anything outside of your echo chamber. Makes you look stupid rather than just ignorant.

When Ward dies (hopefully before me) I will piss on her grave. There will be a long line of Arizonans too.

I marched in Berkeley. I will miss McCain. :(

I envy you, Flock, not actually having to go out in the real world and instead relying on your pet sources of information to keep you misinformed.

Any way someone could create a macro of this and y'all could just insert it to save time?

What real world is that? The one where trump is worse than hitler?

Fine words, but when it mattered (in 2008) the left (even here) treated McCain like they treat Trump now. This is a minor example, but I have seen others floating around.

Last year, at a campaign event in South Carolina, John McCain called on a woman who had a question about the expected Democratic nominee. "How do we beat the bitch?" she asked. McCain laughed, said, "That's an excellent question," and noted he was leading Hillary Clinton in a poll, before assuring his audience that "I respect Sen. Clinton."

Back then, sexism directed at a candidate for high office did not cause a wave of revulsion in McCain."<<<<
