Here's the deal ….
Close to a month ago, we had Miss Denise in the vet ER. Blood in urine and other stuff.
She got prescription food but her kidneys are having a gradual failure. She is 17.
We've been trying to work in her new special diet. Sketchy at best. Sometimes, yes - sometimes, no dice. Some days, she's a spry as a kitten.
Lately, she's been missing the kitty litter. Just now, she threw up.
Boonie is a nervous wreck. I'm not much better.
Please think good thoughts for Miss Denise. No pain for her. Or as little as possible. We are trying to make her comfortable as possible.

Good Thoughts.
My guy is 16 & was diagnosed with bladder stones a couple years ago. His kidneys were decent but bladder full of what had been kidney stones ('cause cats & dogs walk horizontally the stones drop & sit there). I opted for no operation because the hospital wanted to cut him, not do lithotripsy. Nearest place with the equipment is 70 miles away. This cat screams whole way on any car trip. Special diet seems to have worked.
But lately he's been missing the box. I guess he doesn't just need an even bigger box?
All cats throw up though. Take a little comfort in that.

A friend says their vet told them cats with kidney problems are given to yowling for no apparent reason. Didn't make me happy because my guy is definitely into unreasoned yowling. But has been for years.

So sorry about Miss Denise. My daughters Maltese has been diagnosed with Cushing Disease. He's 9 years old. Poor thing is so uncomfortable at times and has to take a Xanax to sleep at night. We're watching him, as a life that is miserable is not really living. So hard on all the family members!

You got 'em. I'm hoping she'll rebound for you and give you some more "kitten" times, but above all I hope she doesn't have to deal with a lot of pain.

Many special diet foods come in both canned & dry varieties. So cats can exercise finickiness. Tuck used to disdain wet food until he had his month of special diet. Now I have to give him 1/3 can of wet food/day, whether he eats it or not.
