Using a legislative power known as the Congressional Review Act, which allows review of any new regulations by federal agencies through an expedited legislative process, the Senate voted to restore the net neutrality protections that the FCC decided to repeal. All 49 Democrats voted in favor of the effort, as well as 3 Republicans (Susan Collins, John Kennedy and Lisa Murkowski).

This is progress, but it's still a long shot. Republican leadership can apparently block the measure from even coming to a vote in the House (absent a discharge petition signed by 218 members of the House), and even if the measure passes the House as well, Donny is unlikely to sign it. So we have a measure supported by a strong majority of the American people that will very likely be blocked by Congress as it's currently constituted. --Bob
