Ouch! Long trip for nothing. Bad case of speaking first, thinking later, my worst nightmare.

The last question in her stack also tripped ME up-but I would have used a lifeline instead of guessing-probably ATA.

It's the spring of 2008 and "pain at the pump" is still very much in the news!

???? 50-yard line. 50-yards. How many feet is that? This is a case of RTFQ, surely. At $500, this shouldn't have to be a guess, unless you have never, ever, watched American football at any level or in any form.

Well Kazoo is from Michigan, a pretty big football state. I don't think it's the football that tripped her up, I think it's the math.

Not to pile on the contestant (and Kazoo), but my 1st grader got the football question correct.

As someone who is totally math challenged and knows nothing about football (nor do I want to), I found this a rather tricky question at this level.

That being said - I've always loved this show because it lets you take your time to answer and reason things out and I would have done that - very easily.

My grandma got this question right... and she's been dead for 5 years!

Meredith tried to give her a hint and she didn't take it.

If they wanted to ask a math question, they could have just asked, "50 yards is how many feet?" With the pressure of Hotseatitis, it's too easy not to read the question they're asking. It's the 50-yard line. How far away is it? Obviously, the answer is 50, right from Jeopardy's stupid answers category!

90% of my brain was focused on typing up the transcript, but the little bit that was paying attention to the question was overlooking that wording, too.

At home when I first read it I read it as

On a football field, the 50-yard line is located how many yards from either team's goal line?

Though not a tricky question, I think it was mean-spirited to include 50 as a choice at this level.

Overall, I think TPTB wanted to do something different this sweeps. I think they jacked up the difficulty level of the questions rather than lowering it.

Not so far, but it might be something that they think about doing in the future.

If you want difficult questions, look at the first few months of the first season. Peter will tell you.
