Hello, Back from Audition

Hello,

I'm back from the audition in the Big Apple.

Let's see......what to say about it? Pretty much all that's been posted about what the PA's rae looking for seems to be right on. I guess I can say I was surprised there was a veteran test-taker there, who made it loud and clear that he thought it was undeniable the 50/50 was rigged, that they don't interview anyone who gets a perfect score on the test, because they dont' want to have to give away the big bucks. I just wonder why someone would openly say such negative things about the show he was trying out for, in earshot of the staff?

But this, just like any other congreation of large amounts of people, especially those of various backgrounds, can definitely be a study in human nature!!

I didn't think about counting how many people were in the room, or how many passed, but I guess about 20-25% passed.

What I hadn't realized...and I very likely did overlook it before...is that some auditioners are asked to go interview with a second one, while be taped on camera.

So that's that.
Central Park was lovely...a beautiful day, if windy.

Good luck to all those audition.

One of two things, I cannot read or I cannot read between the lines.

Did you pass?

Did you get the 2nd interview?

Thanks for sharing.

I certainly knew about the 2nd interview as I got one of those last year. It still led to an unhappy card, unfortunately. I had never seen them doing any tapings of people. Unless someone else knows otherwise (always a possibility), that's a new part of the process this year.

Yes, I passed, and yes, I did go to the second. But I didn't do well on the second interview compared to the first.

Oh, one other thing..the dress code. I was definately over-dressed compared to everyone else; I dressed as I would for a job interview. Since I'm more comfortable in jeans and a sweater, I think that would have been a better choice. It's what everyone else was wearing and the staff, also.

Edted for a typo/Fruedian slip. Your guess is as good as mine!

Congrats!!!!

Good luck on getting the happy postcard!!!

Congrats!

What time were you there?

5 pm.

I didn't realize there were different times, as your post explained, because the subject in my email said 5-7 pm and the time said 5 pm.

How did your audition go, Lee?

I don't anticipate getting the Happy Postcard; I'm fairly srue I blew it the second time.

I know you're allowed to take the test again if you don't pass; are you also allowed to audition again if you pass but don't get in the contestant pool?

I failed to pass the written exam.

I was there at 7, and I remember a good 27 of the questions, and I count 5 wrong. I believe that I got either 5 or 6 incorrect, whicjh led to my demise.

Congratulations on passing the test and making it to the second interview; maybe you did better at that than you think. Taping people during that second interview is definitely a new wrinkle this season.

Yes. I should know. :|

They say they "reserve the right" to limit the number of auditions a person has, but we don't know anyone who has had that rule invoked on them.

Thanks for the answer, Marley. I hope you get your good luck soon!

Same to you, Lee!

I admire people who try and try again. I'm going to, that's for sure!

Good luck to you! A second interview this early in the audition season may be mixed signals. They're still training the interns who do some of the interviews, so if an intern likes you enough, you get sent over to the more senior folks so that they can check out both you and the intern's judgment.

Happy card, you wait for The Call. Sad card, this audition was experience for the next one, at which you will improve your performance. It IS a performance, after all.

I passed the test tonight, but I did not get a second interview. The interview was ok, but I am pretty sure it will not lead to a happy postcard. I did notice a video camera there as well.
