I just saw a familiar face sitting in the +1 seat for the last contestant. She'll be back tomorrow.
The $20K question asked for the Palo Alto tech firm founded in 1939 that developed a self-flushing urinal and a bowling lane foul line indicator. The choices were Intel, IBM, Cisco Systems, and Hewlett-Packard.Snaxx wrote:Ulysses1950 did serve as +1 Tuesday but the show was "nuked" by Iran news in my area. I was to be the one transcribing the show.
Spoiler
For $10K
If you order a McDonald's Quarter Pounder when you're in a place that uses the metric system, how much does your burger weigh?
A: 13.4 grams B: 31.4 grams
C: 113.4 grams D: 311.4 grams
Spoiler
50/50 eliminated A and B first before +1.
Contestant did get it right and moved on, but I do not know how far.
I haven't taken chemistry since high school, and California is still part of the United States, but doesn't everyone know that 1 kg is approximately 2.2 pounds? From there, you can do the math. I happen to remember that 1 pound is approximately 454 grams, but that's less widely known.ghostjmf wrote:I couldn't see the show because my convertor box burped & the picture froze but I could hear it (couldn't fix reception as this was on tape).
One of the hardest 20K Qs in a while.
Coming after 10K grams Q, fooey. Unless you deal drugs or live outside the US or have taken Chem recently you don't know grams conversions.
Wouldn't it be called a Royale with cheese?Snaxx wrote:Ulysses1950 did serve as +1 Tuesday but the show was "nuked" by Iran news in my area. I was to be the one transcribing the show.

HP was easy if you know none of the others are headquartered in Palo Alto.ulysses1950 wrote:I'm the dumb one....Shoulda gone to kilo (1,000 grams)=2.2 lbs. On the other hand I knew HP cold. We just had it as an answer to a question on Monday night's trivia.
You see them every day. You just don't notice them.ghostjmf wrote:Unless you deal drugs or live outside the US or have taken Chem recently you don't know grams conversions.
I see them, I notice them...just can't convert them because I don't stare at them and do the math when the english weight is right there.Estonut wrote:You see them every day.
