That's the new name for the African country of Swaziland, one of the last absolute monarchies in the world. The ruling king, Mswati III, officially renamed the country yesterday to mark its 50th anniversary of independence.

A little something to f**k up your geography knowledge on a Friday morning.

And remember that the Czech Republic is now Czechia (Czech Republic is still the formal name, like Russian Federation or Federal Republic of Germany).

Why didn't they rename it Czechmate?

And while we're on the subject, will the next ruler of Swaziland be the Sultan of Swatini?

eSwatini?

A little late to the .com boom. Are they going to have virtual citizenships?

The State Department, UN, and the county's own website are now using Eswatini.

Meanwhile, Macedonia and Greece have agreed on a new name: North Macedonia. After Macedonia changes its name, Greece will no longer block its membership in the EU and NATO.

The State Department, UN, Wikipedia and Google Maps have all begun using the new name North Macedonia. So remember... Eswatini, Czechia, North Macedonia.

With the name dispute resolved, North Macedonia could join NATO by the end of this year and the EU in a few years.

Russia is unhappy whenever NATO expands, even into a backwater like North Macedonia.

Trump has complained that Montenegrins are too warlike to be in NATO. Wait till he finds out about Alexander the Great!

It took a bit longer, but North Macedonia is now the 30th member of NATO.
