Just saw an ad for tonight's "Deal or No Deal": They're having a Star Wars themed show, complete with storm troopers instead of models holding the suitcases. There are guest appearances from R2D2 and Chewbacca as well.

I will not be watching.

I wonder if the storm troopers are going to do "the walk"?

I've walked those steps and they are surprisingly steep.

One of the previews showed the models in Princess Leia costumes from "Return of the Jedi" - the one where she's being held prisoner by Jabba the Hutt and clad in a bikini top and a wraparound skirt.

And in the first hour, the Dark Side was victorious. With two cases left, the contestant took a $13K offer, even though her case ended up having $25K.

I'm not sure those were all sound clips - the contestants' names were used, for instance. I suspect it may have been a JEJ imitator doing the voiceovers. elwing pointed out that the person in the DV costume was probably a woman because of the slight build. Poor Carrie looked as if she had had too much Botox - her face seemed frozen and her mouth somewhat distorted (sort of like Priscilla Presley on "Dancing with the Stars").

Yes. The contestant was male, so the models wore the slave girl Leia costumes from Return of the Jedi. He ended up as the overall winner for the night, although I can't remember exactly what his total was (I seem to recall it was a 6-figure offer but I could be wrong). His "support" was Chewbacca and R2-D2, neither of whom could communicate with him!

The second guy took an offer of $196K, so he won $209.

Howie made a point of saying that there were different audiences for each hour, and even the models were not in the studio the first hour.

I was wondering about the audience. It wouldn't have done any good keeping the second contestant in isolation if somebody gave away what happened first.

I thought they'd dress the models in the storm trooper suits instead of hiring some other actors to wear them.

No, he's a typical ST geek - lots of collectibles. He wanted to use some of the money to build a room to house his collection. He also said he'd seen all of the movies 200 times. Even "The Phantom Menace"?? :shudder:
