How are you doing with your health fitness stuff?

Please I invite everyone to check in and let it be all about you.

I've been cooking more at home and have found a couple of veggie recipes that add a little badness to the veggies, but they taste so good everybody eats more of them.

Fitness stuff improved until Jessica got really sick. If she doesn't get better today, she is going to the doc. I worry about how much she wants to rest.

Asparagus Recipe.

Heat oven to 425.

Cut the hard bottoms of the asparagus stems. Lay the aspargus flat on a cookie sheet. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil on them, just enough to barely coat them. Sprinkly freshly grated parmasean cheese on top, just a little bit. Then put on sea salt and and ground pepper.

Put in the oven for 10-15 minutes, be careful to not overcook.

And then yum.

That's about how I do asparagus when I'm not steaming them, only I use garlic instead of parmesan since it's usually just the grown-ups eating them. Stephen eats all veggies but asparagus and surprisingly string beans.

Still to stressed about all the stuff that's going to hell around here, but it's manageable.

Tell my husband to stop buying miniature Snickers, and I'd be a B4 All-Star....

More work + more school = not enough exercise.

I am off Monday and will get in a couple of sessions of something.

Any veggie I want to roast - I do broccoli at least once a week - I put the veggie in a ziplock bag, drizzle olive oil in the bag, seal and shake. The oil gets evenly distributed and I don't use as much oil as when I drizzle it on the veggies on the cookie sheet.

Meh.

Got to the gym once. Today's weight = 193.0. Moving average = 193.1.

Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along...

While I was in Richmond, I ran outside. It was beautiful. I am thinking of enjoying the weather we have now to run outside here. It felt really good.

Need to get more excersize, see other post.

But that is what I am going to use the money on. Okay, just a little on some fabric tomorrow.

:D

We grill 'em this way, without the cheese. A little hard to get cooked just right, but worth the effort. Toss them around in the serving bowl with some sauteed onions and whatever other stuff you like (the parmesan could be added at this point).

Not too bad. Stress level is up a little, but fortunately only a little. Sleep-deprived thanks to a certain local baseball team. The undefeated local college team didn't help last night (and no, Zebras, that was NOT an in-bounds catch!).

I've noticed that I'm a bit more sore from the AM elliptical after problematic sleep nights. Another argument for proper sleep habits.

Weight is maintaining. Got a 214 on a doctor's scale this week (fully clothed, pockets full of my normal weight-adding stuff, me full of breakfast and still wearing my size 14B clodhoppers). Much nicer than the 242 I saw a while back. Still would like to lose another 10 pounds, but won't be too fussed as long as it doesn't start creeping up again.

I ran outside this morning. It was cold so I ran back inside.

I missed this thread this morning. I haven't been sick in 3 years, but tonight my head hurts, my stomach is queasy and I think I'm getting a sore throat.

Two b-i-ls showing up for ball game tomorrow. I think I'm skipping the game and have already begged out of a dinner tonight. I wish someone would bring me some homemade soup. :(

Bix, I have that same asparagus recipe, but I put a couple of pieces of crispy cooked, crumbled bacon on it. Adds a nice flavor to it. I add the fresh parmesan just before I take it out of the oven. It's always a big hit at my house.

I wish I were close enough to bring you that soup. Feel better fast!

That's very sweet of you. I think I'll just go crawl in the bed. Prolly the best place for me right now.

Um, I was on the cruise this week so portion control and choices were not the best.

However, I did walk at least 2-3 miles every morning since I get up way earlier than others that were in our group. Usually walked the deck but did manage to also get to the fitness center two days.

I only did the double entree at dinner once and that was to split some herb crusted cod with my daughter. I did have at least one dessert every night. :D

Least favorite thing on the cruise were the port calls. I would have preferred to just stay on the ship. But then again the ports of call were nothing special--San Diego, Catalina Island and Encinada (sp is wrong) Mexico.

The casino was non-good to me but I did make a run to recoup some of my losses the last night.

I'm guessing you were on one of the cruise lines chartered in a foreign country? By federal law, they can't sail between U.S. cities unless they also include a foreign port of call; hence, the stop in Ensenada. I was looking at some of the cruises between California and Hawaii, and they included Ensenada for that reason, too. Hey, if I want to go to Hawaii, why would I want to waste a day there?

I survived Day One of my weekend Irish Dance workshop. Survival is relative, however. I was stiff after the first three hours. My feet were in agony after passing the five-hour mark, so I took off my shoes, sat down, and made notes of the new steps being taught in the remaining time.

A hot bath will be mine tonight, but I have to go back tomorrow. It's only four hours of review. I can do four hours standing on my head.

I may have to stand on my head if the feet don't recover a bit by tomorrow morning.

Aching feet are the worst. Five hours is an eternity. Good luck tomorrow. Enjoy that soak in the tub.

Simple...because if you don't, you have to go on NCL's Pride of Aloha or Pride of America. Reviews of these two ships are less than stellar....OK, they suck wind. Every review says the food is awful, the staff uncaring, the ship dirty, and the whole "Freestyle Cruising" (open seating for the restaurants) just doesn't work -- you end up waiting 2 hours for a table, and another 2 hours for the meal. The main reason? Since they don't go to a foreign port, they have to have a US crew... and what they end up with are a bunch of people who use the line for a couple of months, then give up.

I did a LOT of research on various lines and finally decided that I didn't want to take NCL. That left me with Royal Caribbean (from Ensenada), Princess (from Tahiti!), or Carnival (from Vancouver). I decided on the Carnival Spirit, but starting in Hawaii and ending in Vancouver. 7 days in the islands, 5 days to get to Canada. Basically the same itinerary while in Hawaii as NCL, but what's supposed to be a better ship, better food, and it's not substantially more money (I think it was $100 more per person...$200 in my case) for 5 days at sea to decompress.
