His name was Jeff. He was 48 years old. We found him this morning in his apartment. He probably died Wednesday night. It was of natural causes. Please keep his parents in your prayers.

Oh, the poor guy. The poor guy's parents! He was so young. I'm so sorry for everyone who knew him. I feed particularly sad for the co-workers who were involved in discovering his body.

Condolences to his family and friends.
Was he in poor health or was this a sudden surprise?

It was a sudden surprise to everyone. He was not in poor health. He left work early on Wednesday, and that is the last time I saw him alive.

I'm so sorry.
If he seemed healthy when he left, how were any of you to know?
Many many years ago a co-worker asked another for a ride home. The person giving the ride insisted, from the way the asker looked, that the ride be to a hospital instead. The asker was adamant that they be taken home, not to a hospital. They died at home, & the person who gave them the ride is probably kicking themselves to this day.
But adults have their own volition. And in your job's case, the person didn't even look sick.

And if it was an aneurysm or a massive heart attack, there might not have been anything anyone could do.
I'm sorry. I hope he left this world ready for the next...

Actually, the person might have left work early because he wasn't feeling well.
