I'll take the Spirits of St. Louis. The NBA pays these owners and they don't even have a team.

Not any more. The owners of the defunct Spirits settled with the NBA in 2014. The NBA paid them $500 million to go away. The league knew they had a huge new TV deal coming and wanted to cut them out before that happened.
