Warren Beatty, an odd thought

Seriously, I often wonder what Warren Beatty, and others of his ilk, do for money. One presumes that he lives a certain lifestyle.

However, his main working years were decades ago, when his pay would be nowhere comparable to what it would be today.

His filmography does not include a lot of huge moneymakers-are there many royalties coming from Reds today?

I suppose he invested well and didn't blow it on drugs, but still.

This applies, even more so, to older sports figures.

Funny you should ask about Beatty of all people:
79-year-old Warren Beatty has taken the No. 1 spot on People With Money’s top 10 highest-paid actors for 2017 with an estimated $46 million in combined earnings.

Beatty is the highest-paid actor in the world, pulling in an astonishing $46 million between January 2016 and January 2017, a nearly $20 million lead over his closest competition.

The American actor-director has an estimated net worth of $145 million. He owes his fortune to smart stock investments, substantial property holdings, lucrative endorsement deals with CoverGirl cosmetics. He also owns several restaurants (the “Fat Beatty Burger” chain) in Washington, a Football Team (the “Richmond Angels”), has launched his own brand of Vodka (Pure Wonderbeatty - US), and is tackling the juniors market with a top-selling perfume (With Love from Warren) and a fashion line called “Warren Beatty Seduction”.

I think I read that he took most of the financial risk for Bonnie and Clyde. He cleaned up then -- it was one of the highest-grossing movies of its year -- and now gets a dollar or whatever Every. Time. It Airs.

I didn't get it, but it is a very big deal in the history of movies.

Beatty bought the rights for Bonnie and Clyde and was the producer.

Not only was I surprised he is at the top, I'm surprised that $46 million puts someone at the top. I figured 2016 was not a blockbuster year for actors. So then I fact checked.

From Forbes

1. Dwayne Johnson - $64.5M
2. Jackie Chan - $ 61M
3. Matt Damon - $55M
4. Tom Cruise - $53M
5. Johnny Depp - $48M
6. Jennifer Lawrence - $46M
7. Ben Affleck - $43M
8. Vin Diesel - $35M
9. Melissa McCarthy - $33M
10 - Shah Rukh Khan - $33M

Beatty is not listed, though this listing may be specifically tied to earning from acting and not producing or investments. I'm not sure where the figures from that article came from.

In fact, now there is a tag in the article SSS linked to:

UPDATE 28/02/2017 : This story seems to be false. (read more)

Well color me punked. I did rush this one out last night. Here's another site that lists his net worth at $70 million. A bit of a caution here. The homepage of the website is filled with clickbait articles like "15 Shocking Shark Attacks," which I fail to see has any relevance in a discussion of the richest people in the world.
