Lyrically Speaking - 2/9/17
Today's LSWE is going to be a little different from every other game I've created in the 10 years of this contest. While my baseline for an LSWE game has always been that it must contain at least 12 songs.... this one is only going to have 10. There's a reason for this, which you'll eventually see. To make up for the lost points, and then some, I'm going to award an amazing 10 points to you for correctly guessing the theme of today's game! And I want you to get it... or at least to have a legitimate opportunity to figure it out without having to stare at too many blank answers. For that reason, I made the song choices for this game intentionally easy to moderate on a difficulty level, and I even reused a song from a previous game this year (So don't call me out for it!) Even with all ten answers the theme may not seem obvious at first glance, but trust me when I say the solution is right in front of your face...
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 10 points for the theme...
1. Midnight,
And I'm a-waiting on the twelve-oh-five
Hoping it'll take me just a little farther down the line
2. Dream if you can a courtyard
An ocean of violets in bloom
Animals strike curious poses
They feel the heat
The heat between me and you
3. Father McKenzie, writing the words
of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near
4. Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids,
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did.
5. What's your name? Who's your daddy?
(He rich) Is he rich like me.
Has he taken, any time.
(To show) To show you what you need to live.
6. Young man, there's no need to feel down
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground
I said, young man, 'cause your in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy
7. You know I can't afford to but her pearls
But maybe someday when my ship comes in
She'll understand what kind of guy I've been
And then I'll win
8. No New Year's Day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
9. You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me
10. Red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up
Theme?
Kroxquo Bonus: If you recognize the theme, give me a song that could be the next one in line.
Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something that fits it.

Theme?
One thing I've learne from your themed games is to look at the first letters. Once I saw "QWERTY" it hit even my dense brain..the first letters of the songs match the top row of keys on the computer keyboard that's "right in front of my face".
Kroxquo Bonus: If you recognize the theme, give me a song that could be the next one in line.
Moving to the second row, Albert Flasher-The Guess Who
Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something that fits it.

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 10 points for the theme...

10. Red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up
Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
Theme? - QWERTYUIOP! The first letter of each title corresponds to a letter on the top row of the keyboard.
Kroxquo Bonus: If you recognize the theme, give me a song that could be the next one in line.
If your song title began with the letter A (With the exception of Esto who went above and beyond), you got Krox credit...
Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something that fits it.
Wow, who knew there were so many great typewriter/keyboard references? I loved a lot of the images provided in this game, but the one that hit my biggest happy spot was the Stephen J. Cannell Productions clip. The 70's and 80's were the golden age of these classic credit-enders... so Nelly gets his first 5 point IBB...
And I'm a-waiting on the twelve-oh-five
Hoping it'll take me just a little farther down the line
Queen of Hearts - Juice Newton (Just my luck I should think of this theme in the same season I already ran out all of the well known Q songs...)

An ocean of violets in bloom

The image URL didn't clue you in?
https://i.guim.co.uk/img/static/sys-ima ... Antonin-Dvorak-008.jpg?w=700&q=55&auto=format&usm=12&fit=max&s=109ef37e581b8adc96956862929b3fcc
Though August Dvorak the education professor, not Antonin the composer, patented the keyboard. Though, per Wiki, they are distantly related. I'm sure to Bob J as well. So his picture would have worked, again, too.

I do check the image title for clues, but the problem was I had no idea anyone named Dvorak had anything to do with typewriters. After learning more about the composer than I cared to know, I finally Googled the last name with typewriter and came up with the answer...

I don't know how I knew of a relationship between keyboards and the name Dvorak. Maybe from my graduate school when I was studying history of computing. I just assumed it was a common knowledge. Though to be honest, I did not recall that the Dvorak keyboard not the QWERTY one until I did this most recent search and read.

Sorry to put you through that, lb. I, like BiT, thought the Dvorak keyboard was common knowledge and found an image of a Dvorak with the name in the URL on purpose. I wanted it to be challenging, but not that much.

I think the only reason I slogged through the composer Dvorak's Wiki page is because I thought it was a reference to a Krox you once used that I only remembered because you posted the YT video of it (visual mind and all)...

I kept looking for that, figuring it must've been a Dvorak work, and coming up empty. Then I did the Google search and saw it was a connect the dots thing...

Theme? The first letters spell out QWERTYUIOP, the top letter row of the keyboard that is literally in front of me.
Kroxquo Bonus: Since the brackets are next on the top row, I assume that you want the next letter on the keyboard as you go down. Since that's the A in the second letter row, I will go with After the Love Has Gone by Earth Wind & Fire.
Image Bonus: The late great TV producer/writer who always knew his way around QWERTYUIOP.
