The Atlanta Massacre

#1 Post by Bob Juch » Wed Feb 08, 2017 4:41 pm

MSN.com wrote:n a Jan. 29 appearance on ABC’s This Week, Spicer explained to Martha Raddatz that the White House needed to implement its executive order quickly before another terror attack could take place. “What do we say to the family that loses somebody over a terroristic (sic), to whether it’s Atlanta or San Bernardino or the Boston bomber?”

While the Boston bombing and shootings in San Bernadino were both carried out by Islamist terrorists, neither involved foreign nationals from the seven countries in Trump’s executive order. There has never been an Islamist terror attack in Atlanta.

Spicer used a similar line the following day on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, when The New York Times’ Jeremy Peters asked him if President Trump had signed the executive order as the result of an imminent terror threat on U.S. soil. “Too many of these cases that have happened, whether you’re talking about San Bernardino, Atlanta, they’ve happened, Boston,” Spicer said. “Jeremy, what—do you wait until you do? The answer is we act now to protect the future.”

At the White House press briefing later that day, Spicer again pointed to Atlanta to explain the need for the “extreme vetting” provided in the White House’s executive order.

“I don’t think you have to look any further than the families of the Boston Marathon, in Atlanta, in San Bernardino to ask if we can go further,” Spicer said. “There’s obviously steps that we can and should be taking, and I think the president is going to continue do to what he can to make sure that this country is as safe as possible.”

Seamus Hughes, the deputy director of George Washington University’s Center for Cyber and Homeland Security, said Atlanta should not be included.

I assume Spicer's talking about the Centennial Olympic Park bombing, which was done by Eric Rudolph, who also attacked two abortion clinics and a lesbian bar. If so, it's a rare acknowledgement by the Trump administration that some terrorists aren't Muslim.

Well, Nancy Pelosi should definitely use this in her next speech against President Bush, and Maxine Waters could include this, along with Russia invading Korea, in her next press conference to criticize Trump, or is it Bush?

Hey BJ, if these women weren't democrats, they would be ridiculed on SNL every Saturday.

I thought you might like to see some of the people who rely on useful idiots like you to keep them in power. They can't even keep their own lies straight. But they don't have to worry, the MSM would never call them to task, they are on the 'right' side of the narrative. SNL would never do a skit on them. Their audience would never get it, because they would never have seen what they are parodying.

This is why the Electoral College was established. The Founding Fathers foresaw all the idiots that would be elected in California, and didn't want the rest of the country saddled with a President elected by a large concentration of people who would keep putting Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters in positions of power.

It's amazing how college educated voters went for Hillary, while the people the Founding Fathers were worried about went for Trump.

Again, our votes are just as valid as yours, particularly since California will be expected to abide by federal law. In a world where the Democratic candidate has won the popular vote in 6 of the last 7 Presidential elections, you're simply trying to preserve the raw political power of a minority. And you wonder why we're fighting like hell? You can expect four more years of this, and based on the 2016 election results, there are more of us than there are of you.

I'll give you another example. Mitch McConnell stole my vote. In 2012, I voted for the Presidential candidate that I wanted selecting Supreme Court Justices. My guy won -- in fact, he won a majority of the votes cast for President, not just a plurality. Mitch McConnell used raw political power to steal my right to select the President I wanted selecting Supreme Court Justices. So I don't care how qualified Neil Gorsuch is or isn't. Mitch McConnell stole my vote and I want it back. I want my Senators voting no on any Supreme Court appointment until Merrick Garland gets a vote, and I'll support a competing Democrat over Feinstein if she caves on this issue and runs for reelection. If the Republicans want to end the filibuster to jam it through anyway, let them live with the consequences. But I will not stand by silently as Republicans complete the theft of my vote, and my Senators had damn well better not do so either. --Bob

I'm sorry, Bob, but that's a loser tactic. It's the equivalent of saying that waterboarding is OK because the terrorists cut off people's heads. The only thing this will accomplish is to allow Republicans to wiggle off the moral hook by saying that Democrats do the same thing. Trump keeps giving the Democrats ammunition every single day, and what we need to do is to concentrate on the weak points in his (and the Republicans' base), namely the people who voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 but convinced themselves that Trump was a better option. We need to show how the Republicans are not making America great again but making it worse every day. All we accomplish by filibustering Gorsuch is to show that we're as bad as the Republicans, only less effective at it.

And, if Republicans don't kill the filibuster, Trump will just nominate someone worse.

The moral hook hasn't hurt them at all. And if the Democrats sustain a filibuster against Gorsuch, they'll be able to sustain one against anyone else Donny is likely to nominate.

It's not as though the Court can't function with eight Justices. And keeping that seat vacant for as long as possible will certainly accomplish quite a bit, given the way Gorsuch is likely to vote on a lot of contentious issues that we care about. --Bob

Your vote helped win the popular vote for Hillary in California. Every state has a popular vote for president. That's how it's designed, Bob, and if you want to change it, lobby for a new Constitutional Amendment. I doubt that amendment will get anywhere near the number of ratifying state it needs. So try and live in reality.

Bob, you are going over the deep end. You want to talk about McConnell? Then let's talk about Reid. I will win that argument.

Or Pelosi. She is so stuck on "it's Bush's fault" she still refers to that name for the current President.
