A grizzly tale
Devos buys herself a State Department.
Any of your Senators that had accepted campaign contributions from her should have recused themselves.
One of the most shady confirmations yet.

Re: A grizzly tale
Immediately after her confirmation, a Representative introduced a bill to abolish the Department of Education.

State Department? That's in the capable hands of Rex Tillerson from Exxon Mobil.a1mamacat wrote:Devos buys herself a State Department.

Re: A grizzly tale
So do you think the new Secretary of Education took this job to increase her own wealth?
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Re: A grizzly tale
Like the President and the other billionaires in his cabinet, this job means less money for Devos. She has a political agenda that she's committed to. But a conservative with experience in education would have been a better nominee.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:So do you think the new Secretary of Education took this job to increase her own wealth?

Shouldn't this be titled "A Grisly Tale?" Grizzly is a bear.a1mamacat wrote:Devos buys herself a State Department.

Re: A grizzly tale
Actually, if memory serves grizzlies aren't actually bears, but are members of the mink family. Or maybe that's polar bears. I'm too lazy to look it up.Estonut wrote:Shouldn't this be titled "A Grisly Tale?" Grizzly is a bear.a1mamacat wrote:Devos buys herself a State Department.

But I'm pretty sure Saucy is adverting to Secretary DeVos's defense of guns in schools: You never can tell when you'll need one to shoot a grizzly bear. --Bob

Your memory sucks. A Grizzly is as bear as a bear can be.Bob78164 wrote:Actually, if memory serves grizzlies aren't actually bears, but are members of the mink family. Or maybe that's polar bears. Wrong on both. The both are bears.Bob78164 wrote:Actually, if memory serves grizzlies aren't actually bears, but are members of the mink family. Or maybe that's polar bears. I'm too lazy to look it up.

There are eight bear species divided into three subfamilies.
- Ursinae - Black, brown (grizzly is a brown bear) , polar, sun and sloth bears
-Tremarctinae - spectacled bears
- Ailuropodinae - giant pandas
I have no idea where you got mink from. Bears and minks are mammals. That's where they split. They both make for great coats.

Re: A grizzly tale
Bob keeps picking the wrong things to argue about, but the word "grizzly" was most likely used in this thread to refer to the DeVos statement about some schools needing guns for protection from bears.
