Berkeley Riots

#1 Post by BackInTex » Fri Feb 03, 2017 11:56 pm

Seems that campus doesn't believe in free speech. If I were an alumni I'd be ashamed, but I would also make a large donation to the ACLU, even if it were only my second one, and do whatever I could to ensure the 1st Amendment is protected at my alma mater.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson

The campus did everything it could. No one knows who the masked assailants were who crashed the peaceful demonstration. Could have been out-of-control radical leftists, though those aren't known for wearing masks. Could have been a right-wing false flag operation. --Bob

You will never be "an alumni." You are only one person.

If you identify as more than one person I guess you can use any bathroom, but it will be crowded.

No, if I identify as multiple men I still would have to use the men's room. We would likely prefer the ones with troughs as we wouldn't crowd each other so much.

Your minority group is small but politically powerful as each of you can vote many times. OTOH, because of polygamy laws, you can't marry unless you marry yourself.

The first time I was in a men's room with a trough, I thought that's where you washed your hands.

I don't believe in same sex marriage so I'll have to reconsider my identities.

Nothing causes people to respect your cause like burning a hot dog stand. (unless it is a Lucky Dog stand in New Orleans)

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
