Jarnon was talking about this time of year being a time of tradition for me, and he was righter than he knew. Last night was the Adult Education Center's annual Spellebration fundraiser, which I have been fortunate enough to win a few times with my stellar spellerz teammates.
There was no hope for us this year. If a word is passed to you, you can't pass it again, you have to spell it. We were passed a word which starts with four consonants and which is pronounced /ˈskɛnt. It means the double crown that pharaohs and various Egyptian deities wore. I'll spoil the spelling at the bottom in case anyone wants to try her luck.

! I know that one from Scrabble. Not that I know the definitions of all the obscure words, but I knew that one was something Egyptian. Would never have gotten it from the pronunciation without the definition, though.
